As per usual the weather gods are playing silly games, rather than cancel, we will leave it to the discretion of the skippers as to whether they fish in or outside the harbour. Please do post which day you plan to fish so boats out and about can keep an eye out for each other.

Tight lines

Saturday forecast is pretty poor for fishing the Solent, no chance in the bay. Unfortunately that's the only day I can do, so I'll (Tigerfish) will have to pass unfortunately.

Madness will be out on Saturday.

Martin was kind enough to invite me so it's Martin & Myself.

There's another space onboard and I'm gobsmacked to hear no takers.

Any of you new members fancy a day out & chance to mingle with a great skipper and an idiot on a fantastic boat I expect if you contact Martin now he'll take you aboard.

Tight lines to all who are entering but not as tight as ours.  🤪

I was very tempted, but once the forecast looked like it might produce lumps in the water I decided against it. No one wants an old bloke bringing last nights dinner up over the side of their boat!

Unfortunately, no fish to report aboard Marlin other than the wrong kind (small Bass)

Weather conditions tricky with the wind as was predicted but could not fish Sunday due to Father's Day.

However, there is something about being out on the water with a good friend who is always willing to get his hands dirty and muck in. Thanks Rob for joining me. I am glad you enjoyed the sausage and bacon sandwich which unfortunately was pretty much the highlight of the day!!

And of course it's good to support the club by taking part in the comps when you can. 😀

Dan joined me today for a Fathers day afloat.

We had a nice time in the harbour chasing some gilts, in the stiff breeze. A swinging boatvin the shallows makes it a bit tough.

I managed one of the target species, weighed at 1lb 1oz

Then a keeper bass had us hoping for a better gilt.

A more subtle bite bought me a slimey silver eel. First one i have had for years, weighed at 1lb 2oz

We moved to another area and I had a terrific run, was this the big one. Nope a energetic smoothy of about 7lb, boy do they run about in shallow water.

By half three we had enough of swinging about and headed in.

PB gilt for me i 🤔,  but not the one that got away.

Bobi and me had a lazy start and headed out about 0930hrs. We set off for our chosen mark, we passed Dave Reel Magic and Charlie Alfresco on our way. We dropped our anchor but I wasn’t sure I had got it quite right as the wind was blowing us off the channel. This is where the Targa paid off for us as all we had to do was go up to  the bow and fish from there. First drop Gilthead to me only a small one , but as we were fishing the comp it was weighed, 7oz. I had two more in quick succession 1lb 2oz and 1lb 13oz. Then a different bite and I was into a fight with a Smoothie,  it was a big fish but fishing off the bow has one drawback, yes the anchor chain, it managed to wrap around the chain and snap me off.

So far Bobi hasn’t had a bite, then came another Smoothie to me and Bobi`s first bite, sadly it was only a small Bass. We decided to move to the other side of the channel to see if we would sit better and then fish off the back. We were into fish straight away me into Gilts two more both 1lb and Bobi into Bass. Then at last Bobi has a Gilt 1lb 6oz. More Smoothies to me than a Black Bream 1lb 6oz to me too. Time for lunch and true to form, cup of soup in one hand bread roll in the other my rod hoops over, I managed to juggle lunch and rod and another Gilt to me 1lb 13oz. We moved a couple of times but didn’t manage any more fish so we knocked it on the head just before 1500hrs.

Results for Boblin.

Bobi. 1  Gilthead Bream 1lb 6oz.

Colin. 6 Gilthead Bream                    1 Black Bream

                       1x              7oz.                   1lb 6oz

                      2x.         1lb

                       1x.        1lb 2oz

                      2x.        1lb 13oz

Well done colin you were exactly where we wanted to be on Saturday however dads army also known as PMVS

cane along and needed  there mister importance fix and moved us on.  That said we had no bites in that area so moved off to Hamworthy.  My largest fish was 15oz but at least it was the target species

They gave us a good stare or two today, but all they got back was a wave. Lol

What reason did they give for moving you on?

Terry.

They didn't but they probably went back and filled in forms about how they'd saved thousands of lives so that when they want donations it looks good.

If anyone wants our club to adopt them as our charity you can expect a knee in the b*****ks from me.  😒

Oh yes, and that's after the Harbour master saying they use their discretion.

Us & them were the only boats for miles.

Well done everyone for getting out, it must of been like the M25 in the South Deep!

I will leave results until this evening in case someone has yet to report. Really good to see some Gilts in reasonable numbers coming out, lets hope the commercials don't get wind of it.

To true about the commercials Jerry

It is good to see that there are far more decent ones about now, it gives the Bream Comp a lot more scope as it is worth targeting them in the harbour on a windy day.
