Maverick Martin Posted Thursday at 09:57 PM Report Posted Thursday at 09:57 PM Took a couple of friends out for a days fishing today. Phil is a keen freshwater angler but has done a little bit of sea fishing before. Darren is not an angler but was keen to give it a try. Lazy start out through the 9:30 bridge lift from Holes Bay out into a fresh breezy bay. The tides were large today so decided to stay inshore. Our first stop was at Poole patch. Lots of small bream and mini conger up to 8lb. SIFCA fisheries boat came alongside for a chat helmed by an ex club member Dave Mayne. After a quick chat they went off to their next victim 😄 The guests were looking a little green but adamant they wanted to stay out. A move was called for so down to Southbourne Rough for more of the same ie bream and slimeys. by now Darren was looking not to good so I decided a return to the harbour was called for where we had more mini bream plus loads of weed. Gave up and came back in thought the 15:30 lift. Whilst the old Poole bridge was midway through lifting some idiot thought it would be a good idea to jump the barrier and make his way up the Poole side leaf with a view to jumping to the other leaf. The bridge operator was not a happy bunny giving the offender short shrift though the tanoy. The guy bottled out of jumping and made his way back to civilisation. Well that made the day more interesting lol. Back on the berth the boat was given a quick wash down then into the bar for a beer. Both guests said they enjoyed the day and were up for another go at a later date Jim, 2006holmwood, sparky and 5 others 8 Quote
Graham Nash Posted Friday at 05:47 AM Report Posted Friday at 05:47 AM Well done for getting out. I still get a little green around the gills if i've not been out in a while or if there are any lumps in the water. Jim 1 Quote
Jim Posted Friday at 05:53 AM Report Posted Friday at 05:53 AM Only ever felt ill a few times in the lumpy stuff but it's no joke when we do. 🙂 Quote
Gummage Posted Friday at 06:16 AM Report Posted Friday at 06:16 AM Nice honest report Martin. One of the biggest challenges of this sport for me was getting through the green feeling. It still visits occasionally. Jim and Colin-58 2 Quote
Jim Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM Report Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM The worst place on Martin's boat for me is the Galley, near the kettle so I try to avoid it. 😉🤣🤣 Maverick Martin and Colin-58 2 Quote
Colin-58 Posted yesterday at 08:27 AM Report Posted yesterday at 08:27 AM Well done Martin, I used to be a fresh water fisherman, given time you may convert yours to " propper" fishing. 😀😀😀😀😀😀 colin Jim 1 Quote
Colin-58 Posted yesterday at 08:40 AM Report Posted yesterday at 08:40 AM Gummage, ref: the green feeling , I would love to have that😀. You can practice by driving across a ridge and furrow grass field with your eyes closed , I could help there, but green grass a bit more tricky😀 would Brown do Martin 😀. Thinking of ploughing some up and planting banana trees 😀 sorry folks it's a climate joke, but it's not a joke to us 😀. 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌. Colin Jim 1 Quote
Gummage Posted yesterday at 09:36 AM Report Posted yesterday at 09:36 AM I’m wary of taking this post away from the boat angling theme, suffice to say the cows are eating something closer to a ship’s biscuit than grass at the moment. Jim and steve m 2 Quote
Jim Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Yes when I was out with Daisy yesterday I had the Mammas & Pappas song in my head. "All the leaves are brown" 😒 When it DOES rain it'll probably be floods. Dear old Blighty 👍 Quote
