A proud day for Jim.

Nothing to do with boats!

In 2023 I decided to carve Upton House into wood.

I asked if I could fly my drone.  Not a chance was the answer,  Nesting birds & wildlife etc.

So I tried many times to capture enough data with my phone to use Photogrammetry to create a digital model. Every attempt failed.

In 2024 I asked again and showed my lack of progress and what I was trying to achieve.  I explained that if it worked I would donate a carving to the park.

I was given a very small time slot to fly.

I captured 730 high res photos and stitched them together using Photogrammetry.

I then had to clean up the model and remove all of the “fluff”.

I used that to create a digital relief and then carved that into a lovely piece of wood that the park had given to me.

It is now on display in the visitor centre.
