Don't forget the clubs first meeting of 2025 on Tuesday the 4th February ×

I have been thinking of this topic for a little while now and reading Adam's report made me put it down in this post.

We regularly accept fish weights on a trust basis, this is fine and a nice feature of the club. However, is the angler being misled by his \ her scales?

I used to often hang carrier bags with bottles of lemonade in and ensuring that a 2litre bottle was 2kg etc........on my analogue dial scales.

I must admit, now that I have digital scales I only did it when I first bought them.

Who else checks their scales to verify them?

Remember to check not only the 1lb \ 2lb weights but right up to the limit of the scales!

Good point Rob.

I loved loved my digi scales over the past few years - they are bomb proof, unlike spring or dial scales which do need looking after....

....but after yesterday I've lost faith in them and will be going back to a trusty set of Reuben Heatons or Salters.

I test mine periodically (about once a year!)

Good chestnut this one!

I have scales for the biz that are V accurate and graduated @ 2 gm intervals.

I will bring them along to the next meeting so you could compare yours.

Just bring various weights as well & help yourself.
