Just wondering if anyone knows the trailer weight of one of these, the best i can get is the hull weight .......some say 750kg, web site says 850kg. Is that a different hull....if so , what year did it change ? dry.gif

what are the changes if it is a new hull ?

i should think it would be between 1200 and 1400 kg but any help would be gratefully recieved tongue.gif

also... anyone still own one locally? dry.gif

Gary

Adam used to own one, I'm sure he'll be along soon with all the info you need.

I'd have thought 850kg would be the hull, less engine etc.

You were serious about upgrading then Gary ?

Same size Bridge, so keep hold of the Baguette Holders.

There'll be a 165 available soon then ?

Good luck with the hunt.

Hello Gary,

Yep I used to have one - sold it about 2 years ago to pay for the new boat. I owned it for just over a year and apart from a few engine issues, it was a superb boat.

I love the 165's - but the 175 is so much more capable, and even though it's just 1' bigger, it feels alot more out at sea.

Cant remember the precise weight, but all up, fully loaded with a Honda BF130 mine came in around 1300kg I think. I used to tow if from Shaftebury with a Saab 93 2.0l TD - towed no problem, even steep hills wernt too much of an issue. Slipways were fine, except when wet and slippey or very steep.

All in all from a towing point of view, if I was towing it regulary ideally you'd want a 4WD, but if it isnt an option a decent deisel family sized car will cope.

Hope that helps?

cheers for the input lads,

Adam,

did you ever launch from Cobbs, would i get away from not using a 4x4 here ?

(went from mudeford once.......new prop sad.gif )

Jim,

need to think about new car or 4x4 to pull first, then sort the drive out so i can reverse the trailer without pushing by hand blink.gif so i'll be months or years yet weep.gif

also, are you intending to stop making the 'baguette holders'(do i need to keep hold of them) rolleyes.gif

Dave,

your site is the second place i looked (first warrior). But still can't find any info on old/new hull type ?

but if anyone knows about the difference between a old hull type and new and what the differences are please let me know.

thanks again

Gary,

Duncan Forrester ( BathClaret ) Has a 175

Send him an email or PM.

He's been a bit quiet lately so maybe email would be better.

Tubes can be produced as and when required. ( Brian needs some )

His bridge looks positively Bare !

As far as I know - the 175 has only had one hull. As has the 165. The 165 has had a facelift and a few changes to the design, but the 175 has stayed the same since they started making it.

Give Warrior a ring - they are very helpful.

Cobbs? No I never launched the 175 there, but you'll be fine - it's a perfect slipway for a smaller car and big boat. I launched at Weymouth which is similar but steeper.

I have sent Bathclaret an email , also found this on his 'find all posts' on his home page? unsure.gif

I'm sure they done something to the hull ......perhaps i will ask warrior tongue.gif

Gary

P.S jim, tell Brian it's only a matter of time before one of the kids walks on his best rod laugh.gif so better get some 'rod savers' wink.gif

Unless Paul & Phil's plans changed after I was up at the factory in April, the new boat has a completely new hull design - with a softer ride intended more for "family" use. They had also taken quite a lot of weight out of it compared to the 165/Pro Angler.

It's hard to tell on the photos, but the new design also had no moulded clinkering.

I also saw the "Warrior Arvor" in Leyland - maybe they'll eventually get this finished in a year or three, just in time for me thinking about upgrading the 175

Hi guys - still here, honest!

As far as I'm aware the 175 hull has been unchanged since it was first designed, a shortened version of the now obsolete 195.

Please don't be confused by the quote from the earlier thread - that was a discussion (prior to its release) about the new Warrior 170, which uses a different hull design from both the 165 and 175, as has been well reviewed by now.

The official paperwork with says my 175 mass (without engine) is 750kg. I bought it new in 2008. There is a "Max. load = 600kg" rating on there too, so I assume Adam's estimate all-up of 1200-1300kg sounds about right. My Honda BF90 on the back has a dry weight of 172 kg. The 5hp auxiliary is 28kg, so 200kg of motor, leaving the rest for my belly smile.gif

I tow with a Volvo XC90, which hardly notices the boat's there, as you'd expect. It sits on a Dixon-Bate Rapide single-axle roller trailer, which has never once snaked.

As people have said, a superb boat, but since it's my first I haven't a lot to compare. Easy to launch and recover, but I did add a Powerlaunch motor mover to the trailer to help getting it in and out of the drive at home.

As we live up near Wells, Somerset most of my fishing is in Lyme Bay with launching at either Lyme Regis or West Bay, so my reports aren't of much interest on here, but I still read smile.gif

Any other Warrior questions I'll be happy to help if I can.

I launch my 165 at Cobbs, it's a piece of cake, I can do it single handed. But I have got a 4x4 (Nissan Terrano). I don't even get the tyres wet.

Have a word with Martin (Maverick) he used to launch a Warrior 195 at Cobbs.

Jim

I know my bridge looks bare, I'm still working on (should that be "sucking up to") Diane. How much extra height do they add, I'm thinking about getting under Poole Bridge?

Gary you would have no problem launching a 175 at Cobbs. As Brian said I used to launch my old 195 that was 1080kg without engine fuel batteries etc so was probably around 1800 kg all in with no problem. I used a vw transporter van to tow my boat and could launch single handed if needed. Any reasonable mid to large family car would do the job just check the tow vehicles spec for its designed max towing weight to keep it legal.
