  1. Well done guys! A proper fun toy there. As Derek said I had one for years and had such great fun. Must be very similar to mine with 60hp, I would expect 22-24 knots dependant on the load. Wonderfully stable, just need a little respect with a chop running. Mine did a litre a mile at a fraction under WOT but expect 1.5 or more at displacement. Interestingly mine would run displacement up to 8 knots but would then step up and do 12+ with no change in throttle setting. I never did make her sit at 10 knots through Poole harbour. Enjoy chaps, great to see you back. Trev
  2. Happy Birthday Derek Belated best wishes Mr Codpiece - hope you had a great day. In fact, as a senior retired gentleman, you could cheat and enjoy it again today

As close as I can calculate it was 84 miles and a shade over 92 litres from mooring and back. Result!

    Shake down

I Took my liddle ol' Otter for a proper spin at the weekend, to have a closer look at fuel consumption of the new engine. An epic trip from Christchurch to the Shambles took just 1hr and 10 mins from Mudeford Bar. We wizzed across Poole bay at 31 knots with 3750 rpm and pulled back to 23-25 knots from Durlston to the Shambles. We did loiter a while to play with a big blue cat from Poole but then pressed on to the bank. Didn't fish long as the fuel guage was showing only just over half full, but having then made the journey back we found the fuel guage had hardly moved ??? Undeterred, we raced out to have a go for a bass with fresh launce both on the ledge and on the back of the shingle bank - sadly to no avail. Back at Mudeford entrance we found more water than expected so did a 'u'y at the ferry point and out again to have a look down Barton way at the sole grounds. An epic trip of over 80 miles in the end and I estimate we only used about 90 litres of fuel. (yet to be proved on refill). I'll report back. No problems Happy bunny!

  15. If you have a boat that will safely pass under the bridges do you still have to wait for the lift?
  16. Nice one Al! Been a while coming but worth every minute I'll bet. Wishing you long and happy hours on the tide. TL Trev

    One for Jim?

Is there no end to the mirth this man induces for the rest of us mere fishermen? If my boat had missed one more beat last season she would have been consigned to flower duty too.
  20. So sorry to hear this Nige! Hope all goes well with insurance but a bit of satisfaction catching the bast@4ds helps. ATB T
  21. great work HMS Mersey but what a pitiful fine! Disgusting! You park your car on the road without tax and it gets crushed! Perhaps the same principal applied here would command more respect.
  22. Oooouch!
  23. Just a little heads up for those of you moored in freshish water - Like Christcurch. My engine was checked this morning and found the water in the pipes a little crunchy to say the least! Aftercooler core is drained and safe but goes to show that a series of cold days and frosty nights is a potential problem for some. Wedge
