  1. Mike, I can try to get you something sorted at my farm. DON'T ge too haisty!! You've invested far too much to let it go. Such are the highs and lows of boat ownership........... I have the T shirt. Hang on mate!! Trev.
  2. Who's planning to go & what's your view on the swell predicted? Wind looks OK but there's still a wobble from today's blow. Opinions please as I've been off the plot for a while, but keen now as Otter 'rocks' again. T
  3. Nige, Has it gone??? I have an idea............... Trev

    Leisure Battery

Not quite................. Try this opinion from Sterling

    Leisure Battery

Dave, Some of the modern, programmable battery chargers can reinvigorate a tired battery. I would have an ask around to see if you can borrow one. I have one here at work but can't let it out as we use it almost daily for our fencer batteries. You could drop your battery off if you have no luck closer to home. T
  6. If I can get my trailer sorted, I would take my 2.5 tonne bitch....&. if the slipage is ok????

    Air Day

I will be there to see the Vulcans, as father worked on them years ago in The Midlands with Rolls Royce. I had the privilege of watching a service flight leave Hucknall after Dad had worked on them, when I was a very young fellow. 24 Vulcans, line astern, 150 feet over my head, and perhaps only a minute or so between them. Bl@@dy awesome. That's why I'm friggin' deeeeef...........what...........

    Sea Bee

Good to hear they are trying their best Dennis. Be great to see you on the water soon. I know how you feel and so do many of us in the club. A dry boat during summer months is very frustrating. Only just got back in myself with a new leg and props. Best of luck.

    Prop size

you could do the Castle Marine free prop calc just to see if you are in the right ball park. EG boat = fast planing length =5.5 mtrs weight 600 kg engine = outboard power = 50 hp max rpm = 5500 redution box 2:1 Calc gives 33 knots Prop = 12" x 16.5" pitch

    Barrel

Well done Terry. I'll keep an eye out. Is this the 'clamp on' type lid for the standard 45 gallon drum?
  12. Main engine Mariner 60hp EFI Serial no. OP 412907 Have'nt got the small one yet
  13. I'll ask for them Brian. I understand a hull was found near Fordingbridge recently. Apparently stolen in the same way as the one from here - by cutting fences and dragged across fields. scum bags
  14. If you get offered a 60hp Mariner 4 stroke or a 5 hp Mariner please check the serial numbers. The steering and throttle controls went too. We suspect that the stainless hardware will turn up at the boat jumbles as it was all carefully removed, nuts and bolts too. The next local one is Portsmouth I believe 22nd August.
  15. Baillons You could have a shuffty here

  17. Bare hull only found.

    Radio check

Brian, I've soldered the connector but perhaps best to test it with the meter anyway. What do you suggest? Is it something I can borrow and do myself?? Cheers Trev
  20. Thanks for your support chaps! Not my boat but it felt like mine had gone at the time. Such a personal thing is heartbreaking. I wouldn't give it much more than angry inconvenience if it was my car but my boat is my mistress
  21. Thanks Rob I gave him the site details a few hours ago but I don't think he's had chance to list it yet. After looking at the site I found that the police or insurance company have to request a listing.
  22. Probably gone further afield but look out for an Orkney 590TT 60hp mariner 4 stroke with Mariner aux. White with brown antifoul.- Name Samoya. Stolen last night between 23.30 and 05.30 from a farm yard Wimborne area. Was wheel clamped. Fence cut and dragged out backwards.

    Radio check

Thankyou chaps! I'll do the solder thing first and check again.

    Radio check

I replaced the arial because the tip had been broken off and stuffed with silicone before I had her. I suspected water ingress so changed it completely with new cable and union as supplied. Radio seems to function well but the signal is very weak both in and out. I'll double check the union.

    Radio check

I've just fitted a new arial to Otter but on making a half mile radio check there was now't either way. It did however, work perfectly fine in the yard much good that is.......... What are the likely causes? I personally suspect a dry joint on the new arial connection to the back of the set. Or could it be more sinister within the set itself?
