  12. Rob, The colour could be any number of things from strain, time of year in maturing fish, habitat, sea, brackish or fresh water etc. (the camera) The one you posted Is less likely to be a mature winter fish as normally the pigment in the flesh migrates to the skin and gives a more intense blush of colour. On the other hand if the pigment levels are low or absent in individuals little happens. I can't quite tell from the photo if that one is a triploid but it fits the general appearance of ours. Our strain dose through quite a few fish which are naturally the colour of the one you posted. In essence we try not to focus so much on keeping them all looking the same. In fact diversity is strength. That said, look at the spot type, volume and pattern of all three browns
  13. It's that bl@@dy size thing again Rob......... init If you just want big, here it is 24 lb + I presume that one was from Middle Coombe? could be one of mine??
  14. Little brown job to complete the set
  15. Interesting thought Paul. It is surprising what we pay for our leisure pursuits. I suppose it is all down to how passionate you are about any particular activity. If I liked trout fishing even half as much as my sea fishing & boating there would be no contest at all on cost benefit analysis. I could fish for trout in the best fisheries every week and still wouldn't cost as much as my 10-15 trips to sea. Agreed (PS none of my trout have two tails)
  16. Dave, Do you remember when Hamer first opened? What was the fishing like then? Is the top lake at Whitesheet still a problem with algae in the summer?
