Small Fry is a Warrior 165 with a 75 HP E Tec As Rob says, It would be nice to get up on the plane in Poole Harbour within the speed limit. Does anyone have views on which would be best, Fins or Trim tabs ? Jim

  9. Thanks Paul D Thanks Paul J They are very popular, Gazza ( Whitey Bitey ) runs one as well. I was determined to buy a 4 stroke untill i heard of the service costs ( and the weight ) Thanks again Gents. Jim
  10. That's the reason I asked. I too have an E Tec ( 75 ) I chose my boat with an E Tec, on the advice of Tony ( Fat Chance ) He has a Raider 18 with a 90 E Tec. I follow the reports of performance and service costs etc. very closely. Cheers for the info. Jim
  11. Welcome Simon. I am new too. They all seem very friendly and helpfull. I understand the bit about getting the wife on board, It took me years to get Jacquie to smile favourably at me spending that kind of dosh. Jim
  12. What engine is it then Paul ? Jim
  13. We were out in Small Fry. My son Steve, my mate Chris from Coventry and Myself. We didn't have much of a clue between us so we didn't bother to enter the Comp. We caught some Mackerel of Hengistbury and some Pout on the patch. Not good enough to win a comp. We did have a good day out though and that's what it's all about. If I catch a fish, It's just Icing on the Cake. Big thanks to Mike Fox for swinging by and saying hello while we were drifting past Brownsea Castle and giving us a bit of advice. We still didn't catch anything decent. We did have Fish for Tea though. I do feel proud to put food on the table that way. Jim PS I'll do more comps as my capabilities improve.
  14. I understand the Arab countries have a good deterrent. Cut their fingers off ! - - - - And the people who buy it. If they could'nt sell it, there would be no need to Steal It !

  18. When I have needed anything doing, I have asked small fabrication companies if they would be good enough to add it into one of their orders. Usually they say yes and the price is quite reasonable. Jim
  19. Is it normal for Mullet to jump like that? I would guess that something big was after them,............... perhaps the one that got away !

    Strategy

Reading all the posts and trying to remember is a real task. Now let me see - - - Fish tend to go for features. Use the digital weedfinder. Look for a bottom with uppey downey bits. More than one feature. Use the correct bait and present it properly. In short ............ Look for an interesting curvey Bottom, A good pair of Features, Take plenty of Money....................... That's Friday night sorted then. Now What about the Fishing ? Still learning. Jim
  21. I believe the term is " buddy up ". Not sure of my plans for this weekend, but in a few weeks maybe Overdraft , Small fry, & others could head out a bit further depending on the weather. If we can get someone to give us some " not too secret " numbers, and then work out what to do with them. Jim
  22. I am the same as Carl ( Overdraft ) " well nearly " The biggest Bass I've had must be only about 3 lbs in 15 years. Any chance of a bit of Advice for Poole area Dan? Jim Ps That's a lovely boat Carl. I wanted to buy it when Kim sold it but it was outside of my price bracket. I get over to Wareham quit a bit and often admire it on the mooring.
