  13. Left Cobbs not a flag flying so calm. Decided to head west and have some fun. Training bank for some baby pollock for some bass bait then off west. WRONG, a different world at the lighthouse, turn about to Swanage Bay. Picked up mackerel on the way. Charter boats stacked up in there, dropped anchor on Evans rock. 30 mins later Dive charter boat asked us to leave so they could dive, reponse ended in OFF!!! LSD's and wrasse. Got bored after an hour so had a wounder to a few marks but wind against tide was a waste of time, facing one way in the wind and line passing the anchor with the tide!! Into the harbour and pick up a bouy for a relax and easy fishing! A plaice the size of a saucer and enough seaweed to keep Japan going for a year!!! Lines up and time for a pint instead! Back at Cobbs by 3. What I got: Pollock Ballon Wrasse Mackerel LSD Plaice and the right hump!! (Wind & weed) Well done anyone who kept going but after the Cobbs comp (Wind & rain) the other week you can only have so much fun for the sake of it!! Chris
  14. Kingfisher is in, Any rules that can be looked at, or just most species caught? Cheers
  15. I,m done, Let's not loose it!! Chris
  16. Grabbed the weather window Wednesday evening. Maccies slow to start with but hit into them, getting bigger again this week, hardly any joeys. Took a complete novice out as regards to fishing, a rag and stick man! Great company though. Started with LSD's but that gave a chance to feel a bite and a fish. Next he caught a 12 1/2lb undulate, then a 14 1/2lb and later anothr just over 12lb! Along with a number of LSD's he had a smile from Old Arry to the Needles!! Stu and myself LSD's, a blonde around 7lb and a small tope. A quick drift through the entrance on the way in with live joey's but nothing. Very high tide so had to wait for the bridges till 10pm just had enough time for wash down and a couple of well deserved pints. A very nice evening considering the rest of the day. Got to grab it if you can! Chris
  17. At last something to go the right way. More damage is done with an easterly wind and has done over millions of years!! Nothing anyone can do about that. We all must respect what we have and look after it, but great news.
  18. At sea the vis was fine, could see for miles. Weather front over the land looked dire!!
  19. Popped out Tuesday evening as I can't make Wednesday evening. Mackerel everywhere so no problem for bait, bigger than last week and again got bigger as the evening when on. Been to spec savers so I know it's not my eyes! Out to the same mark in the bay as last week to see what was about. LSD's as always then the best blonde I'd seen all evening!!! About 6-7 lb but nice to see more species from the mark. Strings of maccies even at anchor so no need to troll around for ages looking. A couple os drifts in the entrance with live joeys but nothing. Back to Cobbs and a quick clean up and just made last orders in the Boathouse. Not a bad night a bit of fun after a day at work. Good luck if you get he chance Wednesday evening. Chris
  20. Well done Lofty A cracking session for you, well done! Chris
  21. Thanks Martin, Nice and simple! Chris
  22. Hi Can someone point me in the direction of the rules etc for this comp. Cheers Chris
  23. Copied this of a tread, maybe of help if people have out of date flares, be careful and dispose of them correctly. The one that went wrong was in date!! Maybe of no use but if there very old flares still about it may save an accident. Chris Pains Wessex White Collision Flare -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a Flare Recall after serious injury shown elsewhere on this site and the injury previously mentioned in the lounge. As I use the same flares I felt it only proper to highlight it here for others, this is what is written about them (I see that this is on a thread in the lounge, but should also be here for all, so here it is) :- A Health & Safety Executive and Trading Standards investigation has been launched following the serious injury of a Yachtmaster Instructor who was demonstrating a white hand-held flare. The 51-year-old married yachtsman suffered severe burns and broken bones to his hand and arm before the metal tube entered his abdomen and burst out through his back causing internal injuries. Steve Lucas, general manager of Pains Wessex Safety Systems, has issued a product recall on white collision warning (MK7) hand flares, Lot number: 2045 and 2046 and product number: 52651. They have an expiry date of 12/08. He said: 'A batch of this product could malfunction with a risk of personal injury.' The product numbers can be found ink-jetted on the tubes of the flares. The Pains Wessex White Collision Warning (MK 7) Hand Flare is sold on its own and are also contained as a part of the Collision Warn-Off Kit and the ORC RORC Distress Kit. Check if you have a flare with either Lot Number. If so, do not use it but return it immediately to the place of purchase where it will be replaced. If you are unable to return to it to the place of purchase, take it to your nearest chandler, or telephone Pains Wessex 44(0)2392 623962 or e-mail recall@pwss.com
  24. On the hunt for some decent bass so an early start to the banks. At cobbs for 5.30 and got txt crew had dropped out!! Not the ideal start but ha ho. Decided to go any way and see what it was like in the bay, thinking the patch would have a visit instead. In the bay not bad at all so pushed on and caught the joeys no problem. A swell but took a steady trip across to the banks. Plenty of flood tide to help so not to long. Drifts on first bank one take and fish lost, then nothing for a while so moved to another bank. A couple of takes and a bass to the surface chasing the joey, tried to tease it to take it, no chance. Drifted the length of the bank on slack with the aid of the last of the north wind. Tope on feathers and bass lines so abit of fun for half an hour. Ebb tide increasing and wind decreasing as the weather men had said! Nothing at all so getting well fed up!! Off to the first bank and back to the patch if no luck. First drop click the lever over the rod bent over fish on, smile from ear to ear!! Chasing around the back of the boat and runs as soon as it had seen my boat race but safely in the net. Just over 8lb so nice to start with, trip worth while!! Next drift started alittle further same spot both rods bang, fish on both, 5lb on one other one gone. Next drift same again this time on the surface a tope is trying to get joey off the line, net quick before it bites through the line. Stayed on the surface a while with the right hump! Ended with 6 nice bass but lost more, great day in the end and cracking weather and trip back. Wednesday off to Nova Scotia for more fishing with a couple of mates, lake and salmon hopefully. Tight lines Chris
