  1. Hope you've been putting your new present to good use Graham, you did ask for a jigsaw didn't you? I bet that baulk head is on the ground by now! Happy Birthday.
  2. Hi Paul I am willing to be a support boat for the guys in the comp if that helps, kettle always on and can keep an eye out no problem. Offer is there if you require a little assistance. Chris
  3. Have a good day Stuie, We won't give you the bumps as we haven't got that amount of time. Chris
  4. Done, along with comments how shortsighted and unfair the rules are that have been put in place. As an ex fisherman and tried to be fair, it was very frustrating trying to work to rules made at times, knowing other countries were/are working outside the rules!! Sorry I,ll put my soapbox away again!
  5. More than welcome Jim, as you know out most weekends if possible. No fishing this weekend off to Spain working for a few days Friday, weather looks iffy so not too bad!! Good luck with the repairs etc.
  6. Well done Steve, and what an achievement to get to 30 species on your yaks! You have got every species you have gone for I think. Just need to get to get a job like yours where I can grab a few hours when the weather is right! Good luck with the species hunting the rest of the year. Chris
  7. 1st Oct the speed limits in certain areas were lifted. Back on 1st April. You know you want to get out and large it Jim. Get them repairs sorted or you will have to come out with me again! Chris
  8. Cobb's do both types of fuel and they sell it for cost if you berth with them, it makes quite a difference. It's also available 24 hrs and that's for anyone.
  9. Well done Stu, a real bonus day out and some nice eating fish to go with it, perfect.
  10. Hi Dave, your'e more than welcome any time I will ring you next time. Mike, there was no sign of the beak attacks! Thinking it was just small fish having a go.
  11. Left Cobbs in thick fog this morning at 7.30. Pea soup until the ferry then clear and sunny. Decided to try for some small scad on the pier wreck, pout, poor cod, a macky, big scad but only a few small scad. Headed out on the banks for a go for bass and a couple of wrecks close by. Lots of fish marks on the banks but nothing taking our baits! Maybe small bait fish. A move to another bank, same thing, now getting personal! Tide slowing so headed for a bit of wrecking, right move pollock first drift with small live scad, 7lb ish. Another on jelly 8lb 4oz. Dropped the anchor for slack water fun and quickly rewarded with a rod bent double and Stu being pulled around the back end of the boat :-) well worth a laugh! Got a conger around 30lb to the side of the boat which bit through the trace before I had a chance to t bar the hook out. Had a couple more on but lost them (suspect conger) and some pollock on baited feathers dropped into the wreck and a few small pout for bait. Tide soon picked up so off to try the banks again, same thing hits on jellies but nothing hooked so suspect marks to be small fish having a go. Or crap fishing by us!! Cracking day weather wise and beats a day in the office! Chris
  12. Game on then Steve, you will be wrecking and on banks before you know it! Alderney here we come.
  13. Well done Dave, sounds like a good day out. Taking the day off work tomorrow to go bassing as the weather looks good. Need to get the live bait to make a difference. Now to decide where to try! Beats working!! Got a space if anyone has a day off, leaving Cobbs at 7ish. Ring or pm me if interested. Chris
  14. Hi Lofty Well done on the first trip out, looks a nice bit of kit. Dont add too many toys or we will have to leave a day earlier than everyone else to get to Alderney next year! Good luck with the new toy. Chris
  15. Family commitments, birthday etc meant no fishing days this weekend! Hatch a plan that can get us out fishing and you have the Saturday Nightshift for Sole fishing. Left Cobbs at 5pm and handed east for the nights fishing. Stop off at the pier wreck for some pout and hopefully scad for a bit of bait for a big bass maybe? Pout but no scad after a few short drifts so off we go east. Anchor down just before dark and rods soon out including a float with a live pout. Slow start with nothing for half and hour or so after dark unlike the last time when it was like a switch turned fish on as soon as it was dark! A small smoothy and a small bass then a while later a flattie but it turned out to be a flounder! The sole started with a steady run and we ended up catching 16 in total. Bigger ones on the flood, just an observation as only the second time I, ve fished for them so don,t know their habits etc. We had various species throughout the night, bass all too small, smoothies, 3 plaice, LSD, s, flounder, pout, sole, and a small blonde ray. Second slack anchor up and a flat calm trip back to Cobbs for 6.45 just as Dave on WM is setting up to leave!! A fun night with the wind all but gone but it will be the last time out like that as it got cold later, not a surprise as its October! Chris
  16. Ok Mike, sounds like you have it under control (excuse the pun!) There if you need anything.
  17. Mike If you need any clamps, screws, ball joints, brackets etc I have a fairly wide range from when I repaired boats. Lots of morse fittings etc. I would suspect the routing as long as the inner cable is in line with the anchor point and outer cable. Does it snap in the same place every time, if so that should tell you something? Chris
  18. Well done Nige, I will have to leave the day before you now!! Hope the bank balance is still healthy! Chris
  19. Greetings Nigel, have a good one!!
  20. Well done, a good trip out. We passed you in the entrance, the tent was still up, being used I bet!!
  21. Great effort again Lofty, and the bonus turbo for your troubles. I, m hoping to get another go at the soles before they start going. Should be a few more of them as the sunken trawler hasnt been hammering them!!
  22. Now that paints a nice picture Jim!!!!!
  23. Went out tonight with some customers tried for 2 hours and not a macky on board!! So looking like they are becoming thin on the ground! Wind up as I havent put any away for the winter bait!! Good luck for the trip sounds like fun! If you cant get bait maybe a bit of sole searching maybe an option. (worms for bait) Chris
