    The BASS AGM

Rob, Thanks for your support but it is in the clubs best interests to find a new Chairman. The Pike fishing was pants although it was still fun - 3 pike to 12 anglers, i got a solitary brown trout of 2 1/2lbs which fought like a paper bag ( over wintered and covered in parasites) PJ
  2. I went to the BASS AGM on Sunday, Henry Gilbey Sums it up better than i can on his blog so here goes:

  15. POOLE HARBOUR COMMISSIONERS LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS POOLE HARBOUR No. 04/2010 Date: 22 February 2010 EXERCISE "BLOCKED GATE" POOLE HARBOUR ENTRANCE 28th FEBRUARY 2010 A joint exercise involving the Sandbanks chain ferry, Poole Harbour Commissioners and all emergency services is planned to take place on the 28th February 2010. The exercise will involve simulating a fire and breakdown on the chain ferry resulting in total disablement and halting the ferry in mid-channel. For exercise purposes the "disablement" will commence at 09:30 on the 28th February and will result in the ferry chains lying at unknown depths ahead and astern of the ferry. The ferry will be escorted to the Sandbanks slipway by Poole Harbour Commissioners' tug "Herbert Ballam" arriving at approximately 10:00. Police, Dorset Fire and Rescue and South West Ambulance Service Trust vehicles and crews will be in attendance at the Sandbanks slipway. The channel will be closed to commercial shipping during this period and recreational mariners are advised to avoid attempting to pass the ferry chains until the ferry is secure on the Sandbanks slipway. The exercise is scheduled to end at 11.00, when normal service will be resumed by the chain ferry. Mariners seeking further information can contact Poole Harbour Control on VHF Channel 14. All Local Notices are available on the PHC website
  16. Mike, Im no plaice fisherman but i'd go with long shank fine wire based on the fact that circle hooks work best when a fish picks up a bait and runs with it. Not the sort of behaviour i'd associate plaice with imo PJ
  17. Will do Rob, I've got a whole box of forms in my Car PJ
  18. Update from the Angling Trust Membership On The Up Great news: membership renewals and new member recruitment in January were both well ahead of budget. We now have 13,825 individuals and 1,322 clubs in membership and all categories are growing steadily. Please spread the word! We are sending out second reminders this week to those members whose renewal date was in January and whose subscriptions remain overdue. Please renew your membership promptly and if at all possible pay by Direct Debit, which is much more convenient and cost-effective for us both. http://www.anglingtrust.net/default.asp
  19. Nice one guys, good to hear what went on yesterday. Now to catch your fish fish from a kayak Adam, thats when the bug really bites! Nothing quite like being towed by a fish and then gently lifting it out by hand . It 's great for taking pics of fish in the water as you are so close, as long as you have a waterproof camera mind. I hope there will be plenty of Kayak action on the next family day PJ
