What a difference 24h makes. Let's hope it swings back to what was showing yesterday as we won't bother on that forecast!

Great! I don't mind admitting we're very much going to be fair weather fishermen for this trip. It made such a huge difference last year having nice flat seas and a bit of sunshine! Don't mind being thrashed about a bit for a day trip but when it's 3 or 4 it starts to get a bit much - it is meant to be pleasurable after all!

Great stuff Charlie, let's hope it happens! Would you be heading over on Friday or Saturday?

    Alderney 2016

We've booked for the weekend of the 13th May. Current plan is to leave early on the Friday, fish the Schole then on to Guernsey. Back to the Schole on Saturday if it fished well, if not then to another bank, before heading to Braye for Sat/Sun night, leaving Monday for wrecking on the way home. Let's just hope the weather plays ball!
  11. Very nice Nige and Chris, great to hear there's some fish about - just need the weather to sort itself out for this weekend now!
  12. Congratulations Sam!

Definitely keen again this year. Unfortunately can't do either bank holiday weekend but could do the 2nd option. We're also looking at maybe doing a 3 nighter with 1 night exploring Guernsey, so possibly something like: Day 1: Poole > Schole bank > St Peter Port Day 2: St PP > Schole / Casquets (depending on how day 1 went) > Braye Day 3: Schole / Casquets > Braye Day 4: Wrecking > Home
  14. Sorry I haven't been that on the ball with this - new baby and sleepless nights! I've updated the front page, is that looking OK or do would you prefer it positioned elsewhere/different size etc? Clicking it opens a new window to sign the petition

    Boat Show

Very glad to hear it as there was a bit of a rush emptying everything off for them to borrow it back as we'd been out bassing the day before - they managed to get rid of the mackerel guts then!

  20. Hi Stan With the big tides weekend you may struggle other than at slack water at Xray which as the same suggests is a mark for rays. Generally you'd fish for those on smaller tides/at slack using a running leger rig with a half fillet (lengthways) of mackerel or a sandeel (or both) on about a 5/0 hook but this weekend you won't get a lot of slack water (may be fishable 9am-2pm when it slows down). You may have some joy for a bass on Southbourne Rough - bass like fast water, generally the method I use is a Portland Rig with a long 25lb fluorocarbon trace (8 feet) with a live mackerel on the end hooked through the nose - failing that they will take lures like Sidewinders - again on a long trace - I like the 6 inch blue ones for bass. Southbourne Rough is a general area of rough ground a couple of miles off Southbourne, about 60 feet of water. You should also get a decent number of species using ragworm there. Hope that helps, do ask if you need any more help and I'm sure we'll all do our best! Oli
  21. Thinking the same, out tomorrow but hunting as big a tide as possible
  22. Is the wind really dropping for tomorrow and Sunday? Anyone heading out?
