Lovely thank you letter. Did anyone see them on CIN? Not a dry eye in our house. Donations sent straight after. We forget how lucky we are.

I'm pretty sure these rules are old ones as it still has the old kayak distance rule attached?

Thanks for the offers of support chaps. Last year saw 25 take part. The conditions weren't perfect. I aim to better that this year to fundraiser for How . Obviously prizes are a nice incentive to take part and I'm only just starting to think about this now. I've left a gap on the flyer to add sponsors. If anyone is chums with a tackle manufacturer ??? It is also the Easter weekend so that will definitely kill the weather.!!!

Returning for 2014 is a spring meet to get everyone motivated for Summer This will be a great meet and a good excuse to raise funds for Heroes on the Water. This meet will to promote our sport with some nice goodies for 1st Plaice(pun intended) and other bits and bobs. This will run along the successful format of the flounder meet. Yakkers will register on the cliff top at Southbourne from 8am ,and can then go and fish from Boscombe to the Coast Guard hut at Hengistbury head . Most will launch from Southbourne but the parking can be a pain so first come, first served. There is also a pay parking with height restrictions further along towards Boscombe and parking near the pier. I've put a limit to the area as beyond the coastguard hut can potentially be trouble for beginners. Weigh in and prizes will be on the beach in the afternoon. Looking forward to meeting friends old and new.

My report on AA " you got to know when to hold em, when to fold em!" I live by that and with that in mind, I looked at the Kent forecast and knew I wouldn't get a launch. What to do? The pbsbac cod comp was scheduled for today so I asked if anyone wanted crew. My friend Steve Scott offered a couple of places to Geordie Bri and myself ,and although the comp was cancelled due to a force five, many of the bigger boats, including Steves targa 31, headed out to the cod grounds by the needles. The anchor went down around 9 and we started to fish. I had loads of jumbo pout, one huge one,and Bri was into pout and dogs. Around 11.30 Steve caught a nice 12 + lber . I went down to the head feeling a bit queer, and after throwing up my ring ,I stayed shivering on the bunk in the aft cabin for the next five hours Seasick Steve At 4.30 I came up as the anchor was hauled and was made up to see Bri had a nice 8-9lber I felt better as we were underway and glad to be on land. I go out in lumpy seas on my yak and NEVER feel sea sick. I guess boats , even beautiful ones like Steves, are not for me Bri's cod The trip out

Not for us. Lots of crabs . Hard to keep bait on the hook.

Well Kent was on, off all week, and we pulled out on Wednesdays forecast as the weather looked pants. So what to do? I know cod are pulled out of the Solent occasionally so I started to check tides and conditions and made plans for Friday . Thursday night went to P.B.S.B.A.C and heard tales of weed, weed and more weed still clogging up the Solent, and few if any fish showing there yet. So a last minute text session with Geordie and we planned to launch first thing at Southbourne. I arrived at 6.30 am and looked at a very messy sea and 20 mph wind. On the phone to Bri, stand down . I drove back to Poole via the bay, Bournemouth was choppy, Branksome was a bit better. Then down to the harbour and it was like a mill pond. "Get down here Bri." A dash to Castaways in Hamworthy for rag. Pbsbac club members get 1 lb for £8, as opposed to £10 for non members. We set up and FINALLY launched at 8 into the maelstrom of Poole harbour at evening hill We drifted the main channel for flattys for an hour and then the heavens opened. Proper heavy rain on a flat sea. Hooked on a mooring buoy and got the rag down . Nothing for two hours. Called Bri up for a move and sure enough, bass on. Not a big fella so back he went. We wanted to try a secret mark so headed off towards it, when I came across a mahoosive plank. At least 5 m long , solid chunky bit of hardwood. Well anyone with a motor yacht hitting that would be not happy, so I called up harbour control who sent a boat . They saw £ signs when they dragged it away. Headed along the quay and had a chat with an old chum on a Sunseeker. Tied off at the secret mark and float fished for flounder. I've deliberately cut out ff to save the mark All you could see was motor boats Bri was into a bass, a keeper at 46 cm , and conforms to nursery laws. It chopped right up on the way back and we had a good paddle back to the launch. Nothing went as planned , fishing was very slow, but neither blanked.I can think of worse ways to spend a Friday Cheers

Any updates on this one?

Found this. Is it still live?

Before this storm hits, please do check on any particularly flimsy or light people in your area and make sure they're indoors/weighted down.

Looking forward to the flounder comp. I'd love it if some of the club members could get down. Always people willing to let newbies have a quick tryout , although don't fall in in December

With the predicted weather coming true, I finished work at 11 and launched at Branksome beach in the hope of snagging a bass. Using the fiiish minnow I trolled to Bournemouth rocks but nothing. Tied on to a buoy and dropped it down . Straight into small pollock, Had half a dozen in the same way , but watching a retrieve it was followed by Gar. Switched to the trusty dexter wedge and gar first cast. After that I was watching them darting all around the boat, quite a big shoal of them , and ended up playing with them by dropping down. Water was really clear and I could see down about 25 feet Vis I left the dexter on and let it drop down. 1st a maccy, then a good tub, then a piranha bream. Back on with the battered fiiish and more pollock Squid remained untouched and all 5 species fell to lures today. A fantastic October afternoon

Well My blue marlin anyway . Simon brought down my new yak this week. Many thanks . I spent a few hours yesterday upgrading the anchor trolley to a full length one ,adding a paddle keep, and modding the crate. Time for its maiden voyage . With the forecast at no wind and the sea like a mill pond, a fivers worth of rag, some old maccy , and feathers,it'd be rude not too. Launched about 6.30 and paddled out to Poole patch Down went the maccy as a flapper, guts and all, in the hope of something toothy. It wasn't long before the rod started bouncing and a good strap conger, around 10lb, came to the surface, smiled for the camera and obliged my t bar. Then I put the feathers to work. Scad galore with at least two dozen, all returned. Three good size maccys. Three dogs on the maccy fillet. Time for the rag. Bream. Corkwing. A first for me-Dragonet. Seven species and the new boat is christened. Back on the beach at 12.30 I've learnt a few things about the marlin, a couple of things to sort , but in all a great yak . Met Bri on the way in, doing well catching his dinner. Cheers And for Tony......MARLIN.....not Martin
