    Stolen Engines

When will these scum ever get caught .. ?? Utter sympathy for the victims,. I don't understand these security cameras, they NEVER seem to working or the footage is poor etc etc, Secure boat storage , ?? No such thing ,
  2. I managed to get out on the outer Poole patch fro a few hours. What a fantastic day Strange goings on Mackeral , huge wrasse, and a huge squid. Yea, got the piccies , no idea what was occurring, very large shoals of bait fish , could it be sprats ?? The squid was around 5 ft long and 5/6 lb , not everybody's favourite for the table, but it's my no 1 for eating so I'm more than happy
  3. Now sorted, shame the rest of the motor is not

You wouldn't believe how hard I am trying to get the boat sorted Total re-wire, new cables, new prop, etc etc, Was ready to fire up the old motor last night, failed again, starter motor decides to give up Last try this afternoon , starter going over to AJS in Wimbourne, if that can be sorted, she will get a few hours shakedown Saturday afternoon. If that goes wrongR it could be running around the harbour on a little 2.5 aux. If that fails you will here a shout on ch6 for a tow
  5. My prop is trashed, it was in for repair but it's not looking good My original size is 48-77-346-19 Engine is a Merc 85 two stoke 76 vintage Beg borrow etc don't mind paying, Im attempting too be out in the next few days to see if the engine works Trying my best to be out for the comp Lots still to do,
  6. Smartwater delivered today, everything is going to get painted . I am also pleased, if not a little humbled by the offer of a free pontoon mooring in Poole Thanks , does not come close. I have been asked by the donator that he does not want to be named, his own boat spends most of its time in storage, he does not get much time for boating these days so it's mine when I need it Engine is getting bolted through the transom, gearbox hard wired, boat with Almax chain to the mooring, security cameras covering the whole area., I'm aware this part of the forum is public, it's possible that the scum that do this are looking on websites like this to see 'whose got what and where it is' If you get caught you will have far more to deal with than a few hours community service, that IS a promise .
  7. Try this Bit longer but right size engine. Just the job, perfect, shame it's going to have to wait until this time next year I'm still not giving up looking, sorry no pictures of the exact motor, . It had brand new fins fitted, it's a 2003/4 Mercury 40 twin cylinder 2 stroke twin / long shaft Please keep your eyes peeled, not that many of them around. Because of the way it was ripped off( cables cut etc) I believe these scum are far from intelligent. I forgot to add, they also had the fuel tanks, steering bar, so,if you do boot sales Please, please, do all,you can to protect your gear. Please be aware that even if it is recovered ,you need to prove its your property, if you can't these scum will not be prosecuted , they will keep it, that's what they rely on.

    Rod repairers?

Heres Nuttys no 077944 101577 Please dont forget its not going to get done yesterday, it took him over a week to build my beachcaster . (soooo nice, did it for me as a birthday pressy) The materials used are not "budget" he offers a 100% quality job. Tel him Hooky sent you his way ( also it may be worth mention that he used to build our race bikes ! and is also doing a complete rebuild of my old Mercury 9.9. A handy bloke to know ( feedback on WSF and south coast Danglers )
  11. Should be no problem , mines the same size on my Shetland Sunstrike(same as 535) Balance wise, mine is fine, I think it all depends on your engine weight (actutally mine will be fine when i get another engine on it ). You could always use a bit of ballast in the front of the boat Or (in my case) attach weights (dumbells) to the nose of the trailer. Because my trailer is slightly short, I have also rigged up a drop down ramp complete with extra roller (hinged) doofer . This also doubles up as the electric winch pulley . Just discovered this "reverse winching thing". If i ever get sorted out Im going to take a few piccys of me doing a single handed launch/ recovery from Baiter. If nothing else it should give out a few when it all goes wrong. Newbies eh

    Rod repairers?

I Have the contact number of my mate (nutty) who does complete rod rebuilds (as well as eye replacements etc). This is the fella who actually does the work for many local shops. Please dont expect a fast turn around (its actually a hobby ) but he is a little bit more than good !
  13. Went out today with Wedger Fantastic day:Oooooooooo Now fallen in need of a new boat for next season. No way will the wife will put up with my pleadings for months on end so decision made. I will never be able to leave any boat down my yard in Poole: I'm going to get something (20 ft ish with inboard diesels ) so the wife is going on eBay ,I'm going to sell all my 'toys' etc etc so I can join the Christchurch massive ASAP . I'm SO sorry Wedger, for taking me out and leaving me to catch all those fishisss:Why is it the skipper always struggle when the 'Hooky Guru' does the Bizz !, So sorry about the Cuttlefish painting your boat (just a little more than fantastic eating btw) The wife's on the warpath ; it's all Trevs fault that the new kitchen will have to wait for another year or so !!!!!!!!
  14. Massive thanks for all the help : Massive thumbs up to Wedger ! I m going out tommorow !!! ( wife said " thank feck for that")
  15. The only feelings I have is utter dispare. I'm a idiot , not insured , no chance of affording another The Police did however respond very quickly, tried to take prints, none found A slim chance of CCTV from the top of,the old Poole bridge ?? Not often do i cry , I have loved the (4 outings) one this old boat.transom now smashed and hacked, cables ripped out . They knew it was there , locked compound , tore down the fence , they must have taken the right tools . 12years of waiting and scrimping for what , ?
  16. Stolen between 9 pm /9 am from Poole compound . 13/ sept Also ( possibly )Garmin 300 c echo RIpped of the back of my boat : to say the least I'm more than gutted. Please , please spread the word, keep a eye on eBay . Police due out today . Engine is long shaft : approx 2004 . It's missing the air filter box, fitted with brand new hydro fins. Call Dorset police on 101 or me on 07976 844546. Could you also copy and paste to every fishing forum / boat forum as I'm in a bit of a state and have a crappy Internet today.
  17. Love to , Any chance of a address or tel no ? (pm is fine)
  18. Yes please (could you bring it over to the meet tomorow ?)
  19. Much the same of my Sunday attempt, NEVER had so many problems with stupid owners travelling far to fast and far to close, lets face it, its all willy waving On the other side had great sport with the huge shoals of Makkies off Branksome, fantastic to see the "boil" I think I might stick to evenings and late nights from now on, this hobbie was always meant to be relaxing, hanging on to the gunnels of a little 18FT boat attempting to stay aboard was not the way to relax
  20. I enjoyed that ! thanks Nige
  21. Updated ; with a few piccies
  22. I WILL take the camera out with a charged battery next time / sorry ! Last night, another trip to my usual mark ( crewing for the Black Pig) saw us hitting some very nice fish. 30 + Bream ( 3 for the table/ all the rest returned 1 x 11lb Undulate ( caught on small section of sandeel) Picture to follow 1 x Conger 1 X Smoothhound 1 x Starry Smoothhound 6 x Doggies 3.0000000 x pout Launched 6pm Returned 2 am Big thanks to Gerry & Stan
  23. Ok ,ok no I didnt land the giant squid, infact I only managed to get it to the side before it squirted its muck Must remember the jigs next time ! ( still going to add to my spiecies list though!)
  24. It has taken ages to get out my new (to me) Shetland Sunstrike, due to a persistant shoulder injury the Kayak ( fantastic things) will have to stay in the shed for a while. Im sure you all know the score with a second hand boat, despite giving the Mercury 40 a full service etc etc, she has been "reluctant" to behave, hence (with the problem resolved) a few hours out on the Poole patch Considering the short time out, not bad for a first effort ! So here goes ( piccies to follow ) 2 x stunning Red Gurnard 12 large makkies (feahers) 13 Bream ( only two keepers ) 1 X undulate 2 x Smoothhounds 2 x doggies 1 x huge squid ( I GOT IT) er sort of, !!! Baits used, Rag/ lug, sandeel/Squid Rigs used / all boom, small snoods Tide / small spring After coming back to Baiter I asked around others how they had got on, all reports fairly poor considering a few of them had been steaming around all day !!! Hobits cherry well and truly christened , I will now be able to go after the "biggies" ( or do I ??? !!!)
  25. Nice to see a few fish coming out of my no 1 yaking venue Well done fellas ( I will be coming to play very soon) ( when I get new boat finished )(
