  1. Hacked the head off only
  2. I wonder if it's full of plastic ?
  3. If that is your budget and size they are a decent buy, we had great service when we had a small problem. Up against my other 4 sets of binoculars the optics are very reasonable. The 42's are the more expensive part of the market in the quality optics. See some photos sent on SMS, just done a field test to a tree 100yrds away and the Avalon image was very decent, up against my 10.5 x 42 just not as magnified.
  4. I decided to make life a little easier on Y knot. I am having a bait well pump and water feed fitted to the existing tank built in but never connected. I have also had a Trumpet horn fitted to warn the SUP boarders I am coming through. Old horn was not loud enough, just a squeak if lucky. Also a switch in the cabin for my spot light on the front rail so I have control from the cabin rather than just plug and play up front. A new skin fitting and seacock for the new water fill arrangement. Engine serviced and back in the water next week is the plan. Come on ! I am getting cabin fever. Besides being so far behind Big Col, he is nearly over the horizon with species count.
  5. 8x42 is the favourite in the bird watching community.
  6. What a read that is, well worth reading. Thanks for posting Alan
  7. Brian you are in all sorts of trouble.
  8. Excellent recall it must have had a lasting effect, hope your evening went well and thanks for doing the journey much appreciated.
  9. Avalon compact pro hd 8x32 are a budget but reasonable pair with a decent warranty, look at procular.co.uk website you could go up to in size.
  10. Get better soon and a belated Happy Birthday👍
  11. May be the word competition is the problem, we are trying to encourage juniors, have more take part and reward and recognise good fishing and catches. We have seen a significant drop off in numbers, some of that is juniors passing on into seniors within our group of members. Finding different interests, some have gone on to fish for England, we are trying to find some replacements. Our first goal is to see some participant numbers show an interest, we can always refine details as interest grows, that's my individual thoughts.
  12. That might be does not dose, Freudian slip or joke.
  13. Hi I upgraded last year with an Axiom pro 9inch with knobs and the radar with quantum doppler. I have had a couple of issues but still think it's the best, best to have a registered installer and make sure you register your warranty and get the extra warranty. The best by I have made recently is the navionics mobile phone App on my which can link to the unit £34.99
  14. Happy birthday Greg have a nice day.
  15. Good feed back Charlie, best percentage sounds good and assistance for those who can't reel their catch in has always been ok with me. We do need some dads, grandads uncles and all other family members to show interest in taking part.
  16. Charlie have a look at my post Thursday in this thread, open invitation to non family members 1 x £5.00 fee, fish as many times in the July August period. Our junior members perhaps do not pay? What do you think.
  17. We had a similar number a few years ago, somewhat splintered now and looking to build.
  18. That's a weighty specimen did you weigh it?
  19. Understand your views, however the pressure of getting everyone on one day has worn out volunteers in the past. Lets see who will enter, a show of hands here on this thread would give us something to build on. Never say never is my attitude if something builds it can only be a good thing for the club.
  20. Ok so here's some thoughts on Junior Comps for the Summer Holiday period fished from July to end of August. We call it an invitation to Juniors most likely with family connections with an Adult in attendance not necessarily a member but on a members boat. 1. Have a small £5.00 entry to buy a prices or prices. 2. Run it for the whole period with biggest fish wins initially. Develop it if we get good entry levels. Register your fishing and send in the weight and a photo. 3. Have a thread running with fish caught so far for a target. 4. Hopefully with a presentation at the end of it at the club meeting. Please add your thoughts and develop the idea to a workable low maintenance event to make some memories with Grand children, your own kids, nieces and nephews and so on. Without the hassle of one date, weekend or week day and certainly no weather cancellations.
  21. Neil We would love to see a return of Junior comps, any ideas you might have are welcome.

    I've joined!

Hi Pete we did not get a chance to speak, I was on the end of the line on the stage, Mal. As your safety officer in the club feel free to ask away. We use vhf channel 6 and 65 NCI for radio checks and reports on weather and tides etc. Our most dangerous past time except staying on board is anchoring and there is a lot to it when doing it safely. Beware. Tripping the anchor the fishermans way with cable ties is very important when near rough ground. I would suggest your first few times will be best done over clean sand before you anchor rocky ground. Please post and ask questions don't guess when you have a wealth of knowledge to tap into. cheers and go make some very happy memories. BTW always stay with the boat and wear your Lifejacket.
  23. It was new to me when I saw it late. Still rare.
  24. That's a rare species these days, ask anyone specifically fishing for one in a comp. Well done.
