  1. July Species and Specimen Comp This Competition is open to any junior 16 or under fishing on a Club members boat. If not as a family member, the entry fee for both Competitions is £2.00 to include an entry pack. The junior must be accompanied by an appropriate adult. Fish at anytime in July and the skipper posting catches, weights, and photographs. August 20th Specimen Competition This Competition will run for 6hrs that day. There will be a bbq and prize giving afterwards for both Competitions. More information will be posted before both.
  2. Hi Charlie, Ive spoken to some of the committee and we all think we want to keep this year simple and straight forward, especially with all the changes that have been made regards Competitions. Please remind me in December this year and I will make sure I bring it up for a possibility in 2024 Comps depending on how 2023 goes👍👍 Jerry
  3. We are having a slight change in direction this year with Competitions as I am sure you know. Species Comp 10-11th June Specimen Comp 22-23 July Flounder Comp 17th December Details of the Junior Comp to be posted in the next few days Jerry
  4. Sorry guys I would like to be there but tied up. I look forward to hearing thoughts and hopefully positive ways forward.
  5. Have fun🎂🍷🍺👍👍
  6. Hi Guys, Thankyou everyone for your thoughts and comments, all of which have been taken on board and discussed with the committee and club members, and really good to hear. Here are our thoughts: We want to encourage as many youngsters as possible, so it was discussed that non family members (anybody) could join in. Obviously with the correct parental/adult supervision. We would have an open fishing calendar in July, when junior members and new “ junior” members could fish as often as they can, and put forward their catches towards the junior July Competition. In August we would hold a one day Competition with perhaps a bbq and prize giving for the July and August Junior Competition. Those Juniors who are not already family members would be asked to pay a Poole Bay Junior Competition Membership of perhaps £2.00. They would receive a card for there Competition membership, perhaps a species identification card, some details of the club, and other fishing information. With this in mind, it would be nice to know which members might be able to offer their boats if we had a good take up for this Competition. Non of this is set in stone so we look forward to any other thoughts. Jerry
  7. When we chatted about the juniors Charlie we were thinking about being far more relaxed with the them, so they didn’t have to be “family” members. I have two godchildren who have children who I think I might join in, so it was suggested non direct family members just pay a small entry fee to cover a PBSBAC “pack” .This might just entice them to enter again or later in life. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  8. Why not combine both ideas, fish as often as the junior is able throughout July, for a most species category, and have a fixed day/date in August, biggest fish, where we try and get them all together for a “fish off” final. Pizza and chips and a prize or two? I would be happy to offer Loobie 1V into the mix to take out 3-4 juniors and minders.
  9. Hi Neil, This was discussed at the last committee meeting, something will be posted in due course 👍👍
  10. Welcome to the club Pete, I didn’t make the meeting last night, the club has lots of people with tremendous wealth of knowledge, the more you get into it the more you will get out of it👍👍 Look forward to meeting you. Jerry

  15. What a day!!!! I am sure some pictures will follow in due course, the fishing unfortunately was slow to say the least, only two fish caught ALL day by all anglers present!!! We were the lucky boat 15 minutes from the end I had what looked like a Plaice Flounder hybrid ( hopefully there is a picture of this fish) and J2 had a plump 1lbs Flounder as I was unhooking my fish. The weather was quite horrendous in the morning with a lot of snow/ice/slush all over the boats, I think all boats had good cooked Sunday lunch and a glass of wine or two. Well done everyone who took part, a serious test of being a totally mad bonkers fisherman, a quick drink with everyone at Cobbs finished a day to remember.
  16. Flounder Comp Results 1st Jerry Sumbler Flounder 1lbs
  17. Hi, Norman is joining Loobie 1V as Brian has dropped out, apologies to those who wanted to join us but he got in first. I understand those who made it to the Christmas meeting welcomed Chris’s thoughts that the Flounder Comp will run on Sunday from 8am until 3pm. I will be outside the marina office with scales at 3.30 if people can aim for that. This allows time for boats to get back to Cobb’s, wash down and weigh in. And maybe even have a beer!!!!! Good luck and looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. Jerry
  18. A place available on Looby 1V for the Flounder Comp, pm me👍

  21. Just over a week before the Flounder Comp, a few more seem to be about than the previous seasons so sign up as usual, always good banter this one and a pint afterwards at Cobbs.
  22. Well unless there are any other reports to come in it looks like the Cod and Whiting Competition unfortunately blanked. Well done those who managed to get out, not an easy day. I had planned to go out on the Monday as it previously was looking better with a SW wind direction, but by Sunday night that had changed. With fresh blacks J2 had found we headed to Chesil at 5.30 Monday morning. 1.4m Swell my first two casts prouduced below!!!! Sorry about the blood, two of us had 7 on the beach by lunchtime, a few whips and a bass. Perhaps we had better hold the Cod comp on Chesil next year!!!!
  23. Well Loobie1V ventured out, got two miles off Old Harry and crew decided too lumpy (also the skipper!!!) back to the secret Ray mark with two charters and 4 private boats, one who anchored so close we offered him a cuppa, plonker!! Dogs, Tubs, very slow. Lunchtime kicked up so back to the harbour where Stuie had 8 bass and J2 and I had nowt!! Strange day, but good crack and great to be out. Looks like Kev would of won with one Whiting🤣🤣🤣🤣
