  1. Brian, Probably, but on the day it was a bit lumpy offshore and dismantling a control box in an open boat with a basic tool kit seemed a tough option when we knew it could be sorted out easily back on shore. Anyway, we now carry a spare key hidden on board, so we
  2. No, it needed two refills but we carry spare fuel. Still pretty impressive that a 4HP made 4 knots all the way with a 5.25m RIB 4 divers and all their kit on board. Did you know that a snapped off key doesn
  3. Well the one I had was quite big sort of brownish with blue edges to the pectoral fins so I assume it was a red gurnard? It was gutted on the boat and cooked as instructed, but I think in future I'll stick to the bass, bream etc and leave these 'chickens' for the French. Gordon H
  4. I managed to spend 8 hours Saturday anchored on what previously had been a Bass hot spot, but we only managed to catch small Bream and Gurnard. Having read that the Gurnard is highly prized by the French to eat, I thought I
  5. What can a small auxilliary do for you? Basicaly nothing except move you very slowly on a calm sea with little current and hardly any wind. Can you see whare this is going? ..........
  6. Coddy, Much the same as you on Sunday, we got out from Wick early caught plenty of mackerel on the way and 3 of us fished the Bridge all morning without a take using live bait. The wind started to pick up so headed back Xray (I think) anyway, somewhere west of the ledge we dropped the hook and fished for bream. I was using a size 1 hook 10lb line and 2oz ball weight with tiny pieces of fresh mackerel dangled on a flat clean sea bed so didn
  7. I was watching a programme on one of the satellite channels earlier this week about the US coast in San Diego. Don
  8. In the winter I was always on the web site, now I'm on the water. Probably the same reason for most people as to why it

    Whelks

Andy, Whelks seem to like a sand/silt mud bottom where they hoover along through it looking for food. However, they really aggregate around a well rotted fish corpse, but why do you want to know? Don
  10. Alan, For what its worth, I copied Adam's set up except my inlet is about 4" higher than the outlet at the top of the tank using a 500 gph pump. Used it twice now this year and it certainly keeps the mackerel alive all day no problem. Even kept Chris's 6oz Bream alive all day Sunday, after he dropped it in during a classic fish fumble. Yet to try it with sand eels or Launce. Gordon H
  11. Well done Paul it's great to know there are still some Bream about, we only managed one monster circa 6 oz, but the mark turned out to be good for mackerel. So we filled the live bait tank up and headed for the Bass marks. Unfortunately things didn

    Hi There

Sell large Bream do they Paul? Gordon H
  13. 2006 World Cup Quarter Final game. Ronaldino goes into the Brazilian changing room to find all his teammates looking a bit glum. "What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it's important but it's only England. They're sh*te and we can't be bothered". Ronaldino looks at them and says "Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub." So Ronaldino goes out to play England by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few jars. After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads. "Brazil 1 - England 0 (Ronaldino 10minutes)". He is beating England all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers "It must be full time now, let's see how he got on". They put the teletext on. "Result from the Stadium "Brazil 1 (Ronaldino 10 minutes) - England 1 (Crouch 89 minutes)". They can't believe it, he single handedly got a draw against England!! They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate Ronaldino. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands. He refuses to look at them. "I've let you down, I've let you down." "Don't be daft, you got a draw against England, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end!" "No, No, I have, I've let you down... I got sent off after 12 minutes"
  14. Paul, There should be another picture on the server which I've just shrunk, but it still failed to upload. Don't know what I'm doing wrong? Gordon H
  15. Help, I've managed to upload files previously but now find it impossible, what's changed? Can't add photo files to posts or upload to my gallery any more. Keep getting message that upload is successful, click continue, then when I do the page can't be displayed. Any suggestions? Gordon H
  16. We had such high hopes for Sunday with our resident Bream expert lined up to ensure an improvement on Fugazi
  17. Fugazi will be out tomorrow, time unspecified, location unknown and I'll have an expert on board this time so it should be an improvement on last Sunday. Can't wait to find out where he's taking us for a fish fest! Gordon H
  18. Day 1 of the 48 hour competition for me was spent crewing for Matt on Bliss 2 over some deep water wrecks and reefs. Last time I went out on a trip like this was over 20 years ago (incidentally to the same wrecks). In those days it was a lot easier, this time the wrecks were hard work with only a few Pollack and one cod falling to storm shads and jelly worms. On the way back we stopped off at a deep water reef mark and things improved significantly for me with 2 PB Pollack on the same day. In addition, Matt and Dean had some nice Pollack, another cod and a linget which added to the days total. On the day Chris my crew blanked, I finished with 4 Pollack and thoroughly enjoyed some serious off shore fishing, catching fish on artificial lures for the first time. Many thanks to Matt and Dean for the invite, it was an excellent day out and I look forward to doing it again sometime. Day 2 was a total disaster; Chris managed to find a kennel on Martins alleged bream mark. I almost blanked but was saved by a lone mackerel and 2 poutlets on Lobster rock. Think I'll go diving on the next competition! Gordon H
  19. As someone who has only caught only "ONE" bream this year youv'e no idea how much all these reports hurt. Having tried all the so called hot spots on Sunday I finally resorted to shadowing Maverick at a safe distance to his secret mark. Unfortunately I was rumbled and Martin and his crew were forced to spend the whole day in a virtually fishless spot to avoid giving the game away. Sorry guys! Didn't make the weigh in but I will bring our
  20. Matt, How many crew are you looking for? If you can take 2 I'd love to join you with my regular crew Chris, instead of taking Fugazi out. Mid channel is a bit too far for me in a Raider 18! Gordon H
  21. Adam, Fugazi will be there for Sat and Sun providing I can arrange for crew. Gordon H
  22. Tom, Any Friday PM, Saturday or Sunday suits me providing it doesn't clash with the comps. Talking of digital video camera's can anyone recommend a small lightweight one that can be used out on the boat and preferably stores data in flash memory. I bought one a while ago off a shopping channel but its rubbish. Gordon H
  23. Wedger, How on earth did you manage to obtain a copy of my companies organisational chart. Unfortunately I'm not shown on this one as it doesn't go down far enough to where I'm shown as a snowman. Gordon H
  24. Love to do a photo shoot Tom, count me in. Gordon H
  25. Sam, Forget the checker plate aluminium and go straight for the magnesium alloy, then look really impressive when you get your knee down! Gordon H
