Thanks to you all for your input just had a quick look on the site you mentioned plenty of information which should keep me occupied for an hour or two. The engine had been standing in a garage for a couple of years. done the usual checks. put it in a barrel fired up second pull. compression seemed a bit weak rings might need changing. But if we get any decent weather will give it a good run out on the tyne which is all it might need Reg

Hi Chaps. Having just got hold of a seagull o/b the one with the clutch I think it's a 6hp model. Now do I add lead additive to the mixture or is it happy with unleaded petrol /oilmix I know that the mix is 3/4 of a pint of oil to 1 gallon of petrol. Cheers Reg

Bob Sorry to hear your news. condelances from the lad's in the northeast Reg

Martin BF We do hope to get out of the harbour and try the open water. weather permitting. But as we launched twice at Baiter and we know our way down to the swash it might make sense to stick to what we know. Even if it means an extra gallon or two. Martin if you can persuade the Mrs I'm sure we can repay the kindness. but we will keep plugging away at this end . something will turn up in the end. but we will be down one way or another. As my other half want's to come down again. So its her who must be obeyed {this time} even though she won't step on the boat. Reg

Sorry lad's should have put this in the help forum reg

Hi. Martin. We are looking around for somwhere to stop and also to have the boats with us. its just a matter of finding the right place. as you might know most places come with parking for two cars only. although we are gratfull to Fred it worked out an extra forty miles a day if we had managed to get off every day. We are also looking at a place between swannage and corfe castle which would be handy for launch ramp at shell bay marine which I believe you can launch threequarters of the tide. But it is the parking the boats that is the problem. but we will keep on trawling the net to see what come's up. trouble is most of the places are run through an agency so you don't get a chance to talk to the owners. and all you get from the agency is. parking for two car's only. But something will emerge if we persevere. so we can now rule Arne out. Reg

Hi all. Does anybody know if there is a launch ramp near Arn.? I know there is one at shell bay near the chain ferry. gonna get better prepared for next year. cheers Reg

Pete Been in touch with the lad's cousin and he hopes to hear from them this week so he can collect it Reg
-
Pete. I have just found out that one of the lads that was down in poole with me his cousin has ordered the 511 and I think he is coming down to pick it up in the very near future and wants to have a little bit of a play down there with it with one of the staff from with .so if you want to hold on a bit you will get a report straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Reg to early to ring the lad up so will let you know when he is going down to take delivery

Hi Gaffa. I have the [with 495] two person's are all you want onboard as I had mine fitted out with lockers fore and aft to store most of the gear otherwise it rolls all over. The gunnels i think you will find are pretty close to the deck. so hand rails are a must if you have young people aboard .Im having some made up for mine which will be detachable as i don't want to be lifting skate over the side with the extra height. mine is 16ft 6in long with a 6ft beam a 30hp two stroke and have had 22 mph out of it when the sea has been calm have not had chance to see what it will do with the trim tabs on. as for seaworthyness it more than holds its own is a great little craft very easy to manouver. i once got cought out and broached on a large wave but when down in the dip gave it full revs and she flew out they are a good seaworthy boat can't speak about the other model's but the 495 is spot on a lot of with's are sold up in scotland he seems to do a good trade up there I never had mine foamed filled as it puts another 112lbs of weight on it s easy to launch and retrive one man job no problem the only trouble i found it only needs a few revs to get it on the plane and you have to stand to see where you are going no hardship but i have put the tabs on to slow the plane down a bit. if there is anything else you want to know just ask Reg

Hi. All. Must thank Martin and Dean for the ride out on sunday never had a tickle apart from two small mackie's a foul hooked gurnard and a black bream. Eddie had a blond and a thornback and two decent size bass. whilst Phil never even had a tickle. but we had a great day. and Dean makes a mean bacon sarnie thanks mate. Monday. Terry/ plaicemat showed us around as there was no chance of getting off. So off we went to the boat show and had a great day whith load's of hard earned spent at the Silva stand but it was a great day. also meet with Tom on his stand nice to put a face to a name only glad he never tryd to sell us a boat. on the way we meet up with Rich who had cooked us up a few weights. cheers mate nice to have seen you again even if it was for a short time. Tuesday Terry stopped with us again in case there was a chance of getting out no chance even the charter.s were moored up . So Terry took us on another tour of launching site's. and had a look at the dreaded bar. Terry left us on the wed morning to go home as we could not get off again So we would like to thank him once again for his help and knowledge he passed on to us whilst he was there thanks mate thurs We went to shell bay. and studland drowned a few worms and had a go with spinners and plugs. no luck as the amount of weed we were picking up in threatend to smash the rods Fri Chucking it down with rain. but thought we would give it a go so off to baiter we went and launched the boats. went out pass the chain ferry but was a bit too lumpy for us so we moored up on the bouys next to the castle and had a few small bream and bass but the dreaded weed got the better of us so came back in with the tide sat Adam dropped by just before we set off to pick the boats up. nice to see you again mate lets hope you have tight lines if you come for the skate fishing Last but not least many thanks. Fred for the favour sorry for getting you out of bed All in all a very enjoyable week. we are allready booking up again for next year. thanks to all concerned reg eddie phill mark sarah moureen

Having just bought a carp rod for when I come down to try float fishing for the bass anybody got any idea on what spinning reel would be ok is there any preferance ?? thanks reg
-
No Bob I do not have the navplanner program .but as far as I understand it I can or supposed to be able to put the chart into the card reader and fetch it up on the screen. So long as I don't try to load the chart onto the hard drive it should work ok. according to the blurb I got with it if you try and download onto your pc it messes the card up. unless its the card reader. are they all the same as I don't have the one navionics are advertising ?? Reg

Hi Terry We are going down on the 16 sept. hopefully will be on the briny on the sunday as for showing you lot what to do is another story. but if the fish are there we will do our best. but reading the way you fish down there is a different kettle of fish. {excuse the pun } to the way we fish up here. Im going to try the float fishing as it sounds fun which will be a first for me. there are two boats trailing down so hope to be in poole no later than mid afternoon. can't wait to get down cheers Reg
-
Thanks Bob I will give it another try. they don't seem to be a lot of happy bunnie's over there either. Reg
-
Anyone know how to get a navionics chart up onto a pc screen using a card reader all I get up is the wording and not the chart. thanks
