Tom, Tom, Tom, oh dear, check the date of the magazine, and the alleged date that sea dangler got involved. April 1st I phoned the tourist board just in case to make sure i wasn't being mugged over (vain desperation and hope!!) they didn't have a clue what i was talking about and they checked with all the correct depts just to be sure. If it was true i would be the first one out there with you, but alas!! Simon L

Alun you called the wind gods, didnt you, go on admit it. I'm definately in for next time if this trip gets dropped as i have just read an article stating that there Tarpon living and breeding in the warm water from the outlets of the Aberthaw power station. I'm off into the loft to get my straight-up fighting gear out, how exciting!!! Simon L

sorry guys, i can't make it this time as i have to be at work for 3am on the following day and it will make a bit of a long day for me. For all those hanging in the wings if you go you will have great day with plenty of fishy action if last year was anything to go by. have fun Simon L

Indespension do trailer hire, i don't know where your local one is, but their trailers have always been in good condition whenever i have hired from them before. Simon L

I'll be up for the trip, i just hope its not conger city like last year. Alun if you want to crew for me you are welcome? and i will see if i can get us digs again, my brother says he will sit this one out this time. Simon L

Paul, you need to grind the damaged area back to the matting in order for repair to take, if you have just wiped down the gel with acetone and then placed a repair patch over it it will without doubt get torn off very quickly probably leaving a bigger hole. Simon L
-
Couldn't agree more!, make sure you know where the water is getting in before making a repair the last thing you want is saltwater getting into a de-laminated section of GRP. help also offered if needed. post up some pictures of damaged area. Simon L

Well done Alun, good to see all those hours of fishing paying off, a lovely fish. How are you going to top that next year? Simon L

Rob, i use the navionics 28g as it provides the best coverage and detail for the least

thanks guys, No flying at the moment as i'm to busy sorting out the new house extension, sorry Alun but won't be able to make the open as i'll be packing for florida and it will all be a bit close as i fly out on the monday. Good luck to all who enter though and catch one for me!!! Simon L

Why is it that whenever the sea looks flat there is always a single wave that comes out of nowhere and takes everyone onboard by complete surprise? Paul now has the honour of joining the 520th orkney airbourne division. Those E-tecs make quite a bit of noise when the prop is completely clear of the water and on full throttle I think Paul decided to call it a day at the point when there seemed to be more water inside the boat than out. I was fortunate enough to be sitting in the cuddy when another surprise wave hit us beam on and most of the water seemed to land directly on Paul. Fishing not so clever with nothing but Doggies but great to out all the same. Roll on Dec and Florida. Simon L

Run the engine and take out the plugs, they should all be a light brown colour if you find that one is oily or wet then that plug, ignition circuit etc is likely the problem. Whilst you have the plugs out do a compression test if you go to an auto spares shop they should be able to supply you with one for around

Hi, Alun it was looking ok when i looked last, but the forecasts are getting worse by the minute. Oh well, roll on December and three weeks of fishing in the Florida Keys, i've hired a 26 foot tee top boat this time so i'll be half way to Cuba looking for those big billfish. If the weather turn kind and anyone wants some weekend crew before Dec 6th give me a shout! Simon L
-
anyone need an anchor monkey this weekend, either day suits me fine. i promise not to outfish the captain (as if i could ) boat still buried behind building materials, i think they are only laying 10 bricks a day, union rules or something! let me know, thanks Simon L
-
Hi Guys, if any one is fishing this weekend and is willing to offer me a spot i would love to get out. My boat is buried behind about 4 tonnes of building materials and likely to be that way for months yet. I havn't been out in a while now and are getting fed up stuck on land, so please someone help out and save me from impending boredem. Simon L

Hi Rob, where are you off to in Canada as i will be in Toronto for 2 weeks from the 25th and was planning to try for the Salmon myself on the lake. Simon L

"Frisky Fox, Frisky Fox, whilst i respect your right to anchor anywhere, but you should be aware that there will be fast boats coming through here" Heard the radio chatter thanks for the entertainment Mike I was out Mudeford way to start, Mackerel a plenty off the back of the island but only if you where close in, tried drifting a few livelies to no avail so settled into the east side of the ledge and spent the next few hours pulling Bream after Bream, must of had about 50 or so all to squid strip baits without ground baiting. Time for a change of scene so moved down to the southbourne rough nothing but piddly pout so didn't stop for long and soon moved off to the East. Now comes the good bit found an area which looked good and started to fish lots of good heavy bites start happening but for some reason i kept snapping of at the hook length, after a bit i get fed up with this and on closer inspection i think i'm getting bitten through and not my dodgy knot tying, so i added a light steel-on leader with a small hook which i picked up in florida last year and dropped it down with some Maccy as bait, Success, my first ever Trigger fish! this continued for the next couple of hours with 3 rods totalling 22 Triggers, put them all back bar one to try and eat, but what is the skin made of on those things, its unbelievably tough . I havn't been out fishing for a while now and to catch those fish made me smile. Simon L

Its not the boat thats the problem for me its the car, 5 months old with only 10k on the clock the gearbox has gone and Ford are saying 8 weeks to fix it under warranty. So no photo's of giant fish as you will only make me jealous Simon L

I'm fishing sunday, I'll be out from lymington first thing, so book me in please, do i need to call in on the VHF as well? Simon L
-
I'll be there bright and early with "CIMARRA"! and will happily dip and drag boats with my 4x4. what sort of rigs should i be tying in readiness for the great hound hunt Paul J are you hitching a lift with others to the slip as i will be arriving from the east, i have loads of frozen maccy, squid and sandeel but nowt else, how much shall i bring? Simon L
-
You guys must hate me, i'm going to have to be up at 03:30 to be there for 07:00ish. Paul J, you will have to drive us out to the fishing grounds whilst i catch up on some ZZZZZ's. Also we are talking about the weekend of the 8th aren't we? Simon L
-
Paul J has put himself forward as crew, but i can fit another on if anyone ends up crewless on the day or is stuck without a boat, but only if you are really stuck as it can end up a bit crowded with 3 on board (as my lunch can take up 2 crew spaces ) Simon L
-
I'm good for the dates you have suggested and come with a 4x4 as well need crew though, any volunteers? Simon L
