  11. By the wau Charlie, I meant to mention that when Just Purfick was returning from Alderney and went past you drifting the wreck you stood out no problem in the radar. Clear as a bell.
  12. Today helped a women who had reversed down Wick Slipway in her Merc Estate and then went far enough back to put the rear wheels of the car over the dropoff at the end of the slipway. Low water with the tide coming in. One car helped to tow her out whilst tow of us pushed the car which fortunately got out - just. The water by now was level with the top of the bumper. 10 mins later and I think her boo would have been soaked. very lucky escape in my opinion.

  16. Dave, I get the same problem with the pdf files. I think it is something to do with the type of file the web server thinks it is ( ie. text / binary etc. ).
  17. I don't think so, but maybe that is the scary part - Seriously though, it has been a learning curve for me over the past 4 years and I consider that I am safer now than a few years ago. Important things are to learn from your mistakes and listen to advice.
  18. Welcome and when the weather is better we will have to get out. Also thinking of trailing to Portsmouth for the Tope ASAP.....
  19. Certainly looks like you have forgotten to tick the box for Daylight Savings Time which would then make EasyTide 08:39 which is pretty much comparable with Davies Tackle time of 08:25 Also of importance is the size of the tide ( eg. I can exit Christchurch on a LW neap tide but no chance on a spring LW ). Also the current weather will affect the water height. High Pressure will mean the tide height is lower and low pressure can have the opposite affect. Prevailing winds can have the effect of delaying the HW time a bit ( I think Easterly winds hold back the tide to a degree and westerly can bring HW earlier ? ) I usually use EasyTide and look up Christchurch Entrance - aiming to be 2 hrs either side of LW if a spring. Finally, if you navigate the run on a LW spring and feel really pleased with yourself try to avoid hitting the Beerpan rocks shortly afterwards

  24. and from the NTTA website NTTA Marking of rear overhang Between 1m and 2m, ensure the end is clearly visible by attaching a piece of cloth or similar.
  25. From another website ( North Limcolnshire Council ) :- These regulations vary slightly depending on the age of the trailer and the width of the towing vehicle, but this is what is normally required. The trailer board needs; two red rear lamps, two stop lamps, number plate and light, two red reflectors, two amber indicators, one rear red fog lamp, two white forward facing reflectors. In addition, if the trailers are more than 2.1 meters wide, they also need white forward facing lamps on the trailer board or mudguards. The lighting board must be wide enough so the outer edge of the rear lights is within 150mm of the outer edge of the boat. This lighting board should be positioned within one metre of the end of the total overhang (which is often the mast), or otherwise the end of the overhang would have to be lit with an addition reflector and red lamp. The lighting board should not be more than 1.5 metres off the ground. The trailer also requires at least two amber reflectors down each side.
