  1. Note :- Initial list, I had forgot to include Abode II entries. Now included. ( Apologies Craig I missed your reply). For info, to make this less likely in future, if everyone reports their comp catch in one of the following 3 ways this will help :- 1) Using Catch Report form on website ( include note that it is a comp fish ) 2) Phone me. 3) E-Mail ( and follow up by PM to be sure ). regards Paul

  3. And a picture of the Undulate :- ( Didn't weigh it as pointless, since outside club waters ).
  4. Slow fishing for us as well on Christchurch Ledge. We had 5 or 6 bream in total - the biggest being 2lb 2oz to myself. Had a couple of Cuttlefish as well which I put in the bait tank. I lifted the lid off the tank and peered in to get a mackeral out and the cuttlefish squirted ink a huge distance all over me !!
  5. Took a trip out from Langstone on Friday on my friend's boat Westray. Picked some tips from Al for the Plaice fishing but had no success whatsover. I am sure this was not the method or drift as there were many other boats having same lack of success. Strange. Still, the day started well and ended well. Feathering for mackeral and I hook into one which is fighting rather well. I'll be damned I have a bass on a hokkai We then head for the Plaice ( or lack of plaice ) but still manage bream and wrasse whilst drifting. Steve has a nice smoothhound on his plaice gear. The off to Utopia and the action starts. I had to ask if the bottom was snaggy as I appeared to have hooked the bottom. No - it is moving - 10 mins later a nice Undulate ray is onboard. Then the Smoothhound action starts with one after another ( Up to 15 lb ish ) and a few Tope to the mackeral ( I didn't manage a Tope this trip ). Great day out - fantastic weather ( I hear it was overcast here all day - well it was beautiful at sea : ) ) and what a way to take a day off work. Still looking for my first decent Plaice - but many thanks for the tips Al, I am sure I can put them to use next time.
  6. Rules are :- FISHED INSIDE CLUB WATERS [WEATHER PERMITTING] AND ARE FISHED FOR OVER ANY SEVEN HOUR PERIOD BETWEEN 0600AND 1800 The maximum number of hooks fished simultaneously shall be three. Treble hooks count as one, Pennel rigs count as one if both hooks are within the same bait. Maximum number of rods to be used simulatneously shall be two. ie. One rod with 2 hooks ( or 2 pennels ) and another rod with one hook ( or pennel ) Report the largest bream caught ( catch and release is fine ). I expect all fish to be reported by Monday evening. ( ie. within 24 hours ). Either by catch report on website or by phone.
  7. Up for volunteering but yet to catch a double using "the method". ( Hope this will change this year )
  8. I still like the one where you bump into a club member in Pizza Hut on Christmas Eve and suggest that a trip out for cod on the day after boxing day might be a good idea. Permission is requested and the reply was "Depends on how good my Christmas Presents are ! "
  9. Dave, The download is also available from the link I posted at the top of my original post. ( ie. from the Angling Unity Website ). I think this is the same thing ?

    Boarding steps..

Think I have some like that as well - If I can find them you are more than welcome to borrow them Alun.
  11. Neo has a two fish rule as well. Not been a problem to date as first need to catch two

  13. Angling Unity Update Angling Unity Update - May 2008 By admin | May 23, 2008 Background For the past year, the main national membership organisations representing anglers have been planning to unify into one body to represent all coarse, sea and game anglers. This is a move which has been long awaited and tried unsuccessfully in the past. We aim to make it a reality at last. It is widely known that there are millions of anglers in the UK, but they have never had a single professional, high-profile and well-funded organisation to represent their views. Who is involved? The organisations participating in unification are: The Anglers
  14. Scientists state the stock is sustainable = Agree with this, fish away, I am sure we can ensure it becomes unsustainable. Scientists state the stock is collapsing and should be a moratorium on catches = We have a bycatch problem, better increase the quotas .... The world has gone mad !
  15. Western Morning News TASTE FOR SEA BASS 'HITTING STOCKS' PAUL GREAVES 11:00 - 24 May 2008 British stocks of wild sea bass are running low thanks to the demand being generated by restaurants and celebrity chefs, fishing experts have warned. Sea bass, which is caught in large quantities off the South West coast, has undergone an image transformation in the last decade and is now a staple of dining menus across the country. Sales have trebled in the last two years alone and the amount landed in the UK has risen by 75 per cent. Now the Bass Anglers' Sportfishing Society has warned that the fashionable fish may have to be taken off the menu for good if its numbers continue to fall. John Leballeur of the society said: "I have never seen a period when the numbers of young bass have been so low for so long. "Across the southern UK, there has been a decline." The group has now called a halt to catching the fish for three months during the spawning season. Recent figures from Seafish, the marine fishing authority, show sales have more than trebled since 2005, jumping from
  16. Nice fish Alun - I must get out after some Bass myself soon - work keeps getting in the way Do you know what length the fish was ? Also, could you let me know the size of the biggest fish returned please, so I can keep track for the Catch and Release award.
  17. I am on Neo with Paul Rowcliffe
  18. Book in here!! Sunday is the rescheduled annual bream comp. Tides for Poole Entrance here: Adam is away at the moment, so posting this for him. This is also the 2nd comp for the BFM league - so we need at least 15. Who's in then??
  19. Plenty of wrecks around it as well
  20. Simon, I am sure your boat will go quickly. I can vouch for the boat having fished on her twice now. One of the better looked after boats I must say. I bet the replacement one is going to be something pretty impressive. If I had not sold my X-Trail I would have been interested in her, but a little heavy to tow with my small car. Paul
  21. I have galvanised shackles on galvanised anchor and the shackles have really rusted out. Not sure if they were just cheap sh1te? I was actually thinking of swapping them for SS. Is the consensus on this Yay or Nay? Charlie, No expert here, but I have a corroding "galvanised" shackle on mine and at least I know it isn't going to easily come undone ! ( It is cable tied thorugh the hols in the shackle as described earlier )/

It is still too wide. Just playing around running ubuntu operating sytem on an old laptop and the front page is too wide on this as well. A bit more tweeking needed I think

    Home page

Its because of the large picture of a bream caught on a kayak that was posted. If I have time I will shrink the picture, but the problem will go away if more catch reports are posted
  25. Not sure exact distance we travelled but someting like 4-5 hours steaming at around 18 knots ? in total plus drifting on each wreck, so something like 80-90 NM ( very approx ! ) ?
