I did snare a few in the end the first being the biggest at 2 1/2 lbs all super male fish glowing blue They all went back alive beacause my fish box was full of mackrel We found them straight away in strings of 4! along with some fair sized ledge pollock, also had a few wrasse and a stray doggy, all in all a good afternoons fishing. Bait wise I took lug and rag after alun J found lug was fishing better, but all the bream came to rag Tight lines James

Sounds like you guys had a good day ,at long last itl looks like the summer fish are here ,Im out tomorrow afternoon for a few hours to see if I can Find those bream James

I was also thinking sunday. Paul Im also out tomorrow to see if the bream are on my old faithful marks yet So that will make up my mind on what to do sunday James

Dawn raider headed out from weymouth with the inshore wrecks the target. I tagged along with Adam and Bob on BW and we tryed several wrecks and ended up a fair way offshore! with nothing to show Well 1 jumbo pout . anchored on the slack for 1 dog. We spent the last couple of hours on the shambles, all seemed perfect,flat calm seas nice slow drift speed strat of a fresh tide but nothing! well 1 launce.Did note how clear the water was you could clearly see the bottom even in nearly 40 feet. Maybe thats why the plaice arnt on the bank in numbers?there black/brown bodys would stand out on all that white sand? Tight lines James

Just got back from a jaunt down the beach at southbourne the beach its MASSIVE now! there must be a fair trench out there to fish, wherever that sand came from / It looked a bit sloppy out there about lunchtime but calmed down later on this afternoon. loads of boats out, but only one fishing that I could see, good luck to you guys heading out tomorrow ,ive go to work James

You jammy sod ,spring cod on/off the shambles ,you never know whats going to turn up there,with hailbut one week ,cod the next!! well done mate. Shame about the plaice fishing .Do you think it was just the snotty weather stopping you fishing the bank right? maybe next week will be better...........fingers crossed James

Gordon your dogs with big spots sound like huss,were they sort of velvety?with attitude? you get a few on the ledge ive had them up to 12lbs and there a winner on a species comp James

After the disaster of a trip to the shambles last weekend and not wanting to battle it on a spring tide, Im planning a return trip on sunday the 23rd.( good date Adam for the first trailaway of the year ? ) The tide will be just off neaps so looks good .Ill let you guys this fishing weekend see if the plaice have ridden the springs in then hope to plunder the stocks the week after anyone coming? Not legally,there HUGE fines for moveing fish without the proper certificates!

The Pike on this river seem to ignore deadbaits.I had one out all day on the last visit and not a touch.......well except from a greedy brown trout on a whole mackrel!!! There were so many fish in the deeper bits of the river,where it was so low due to the lack of rain,they seem preocupied on these.Maybe now we have had a bit of rain the baitfish have dispursed,so its worth a look. I would go for a small a bait as poss As most of the pike are small I lost about 5 on the last vist pulled out due to the bait being too big. Thats the hardest part trying to catch livebait small enuff.We were makeing do with 1/2lb graying!!! Happy hunting James
