Cheers for the offer Mick . I have ordered one already just awaiting delivery.

Mick I've invested in a cable puller to pull a multicore cable from a battery fused switch panel directly fed from one of my two batteries and located at the rear of the cabin to the housing shown in the previous photo. cable puller I will try to push it through the s bend to open the flap valve but it still leaves me with the problem of head needed to overcome the s bend. I will flood the deck and check how high the water level needs to go before it escapes through the flap valve .I might even consider reducing the height of the s bend. Can't do anything yet until the cable puller arrives ....hope it gets here before Tuesday. if so I'll let you know how I get on if you're at the meeting .

If only it were that simple Jim, The Scupper drain is connected via an S bend flexible pipe so to get over the bend needs a flexible rod I've tried wire without success. This is why the flap valve needs a bit of head to open. There isn't a problem when on the plane but when boat is level I need the s bend to stop the water coming on board just in case the flap valve sticks open. I have another solution and that is to get the dry stack boys to built up the port side mounting support so the boat is always tilted to starboard but might have a few issues with damage to starboard trim tab if I go this route. Sticking with the bilge pump solution for now.

Nah I only have a manual bilge pump and only need it when rainwater level in foredeck gets too high and overtops door sil and enters the cabinl. This is due to my flap valve deck drain sometimes sticking as not enough head to open it properly. I have invested in a Whale supersub smart 650 bilge pump https://www.marinesuperstore.com/marine-pumps/bilge/whale-supersub-smart-650-bilge-pump-12v?utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=pcn&utm_term=99293598&utm_campaign=MSS&gclid=CjwKCAiA_f3uBRAmEiwAzPuaM-Inp4uYD5bsF1WSQBHVHLH7kUkDAVmlxNHoEjwnqz4yTcY-DI4y4hoCAoUQAvD_BwE which I will install in the foredeck drainage gulley near the scupper. It should keep water level below 9mm in theory. The bilge is separate to the foredeck drain. i will install the pump via a waterproof plug and socket so if needs be I can optimise its position

Nice Pic Brian I can see my boat is still there on the top of the drystack. I'll be fitting a deck mounted bilge pump in the next couple of weeks as getting fed up with having to keep baling her out .(being too tight to iinvest in a cover)

Very Happy Birthday Terry Enjoy being spoilt 🍷

An expensive entry fee but sounds like a good fun 5 days. Accomodation costs on top would probably make this about a £1000 investment for a share of a £10,000 prize list and with 70 anglers involved chances of me winning some of the money would be absolutely zero..... even if I entered. Not for me I'm afraid I'm not a Competitor ....don't even enter the club comps but that's because they are generally weekend events. Well thats my excuse anyway🙄

Happy Birthday Alfie, Enjoy the day

Thanks very much for the Birthday wishes guys. I am of an age where I don't tend to look forward to birthdays although on the plus side it is very nice to have got through another year. The family would have probably sectioned me if I had taken the boat out today. Been watching the Rugby and the weather from the comfort of indoors. Got to say there's been some fantastic Rugby played at this world cup and well done South Africa who gave a masterclass of forward play today. I am thankfully all Rugbyied out and can now concentrate on the vast list of alternative activities that have been accumulating in the wings.😕 I am sure I can now make a start on my celebratory 🍺 No cake though ..still looking after my figure

Happy Birthday Steve. Enjoy the day or at least what's left of it👍🍺🎂

Driving between Southbourne and Portsmouth and vice versa will be soul destroying at certain times during the year due to horrendous traffic tail backs although you can overcome these most of the time by timing your journey at silly o clock hours. My boat is on drystack in Poole but I live in Eastleigh . Due to numerous crappy journeys I have basically vetoed driving there on weekends and now only go out during the week days outside of rush hour traffic obviously

Put that lot on the back of Tiddler and I'd take bets she would sink Jim

Birthday Greetings Andy Hope you enjoyed the day 🎂 🍺

Super Report Charlie could almost feel I was there.

I thought I saw your car in the cobbs carpark this morning when I arrived and thought you had got there really early. It would explain why you didn't answer my calls during the day and I didn't spy your boat at the normal marks. Freelanders must be two a penny at Cobbs Hope all goes well with you tomorrow

Had a very pleasant trip out today although there was a bit of a swell during the flood in the bay. I tried everything to coax a mackerel out from Durley Rock with my new Sabiki Rods and home made Sabiki rigs but they just didn't want to play. I reckon my drifts were not accurate enough. Very frustrating as they showed up on the sounder but by the time I got the lines over the side all was barren😕 Anyway all was not lost as I managed to christen both rods with some good sized Pollock. Headed back early so I can be refreshed for a further attempt tomorrow Thursday

Cheers Mal Fog didnt show up on my weather forecast but I will keep checking

Looking to take the boat out this week and trying to get as many days out as possible. Space available if anyone fancies it. I need to at least christen a couple of Sabiki Rods

Hi Neil, I like the standard horizon range part of the YAESU brand can't give you a preferred model number as mine is about 5 years old and non dsc but has performed well over the years floats upright(not tested) and has good battery life and range. It was about £130 then but assuming range has evolved a dsc type must be available now for the same price although their HX890E DSC type is around £200 sale price on some sites. Another plus for the brand for me is that their main support office was in Winchestetr.I also have a standard horizon fixed dsc vhf which is great. I know many people swear by ICOM but my personal experience with this brand when I used to use their VHF/UHF handhelds (non marine bands) for communicating during work projects was not the best regarding reliability and battery life problems. When they did work they were very good but they used to visit repair centres quite regularly . YAESU have some really low cost handhelds (around £60 ) and make good kit.

Ah Crafty My Book length is 19ft 6 inches or 5.95m Cobbs charge me for the overhang of the outboard and bow roller at 6.2M Who says size doesn't matter😕 Its all in the length

Brian , Any particular reason for looking at the Arvor 215? I thought most people were now fancying Outboards rather than Diesels in that size range. Although i must admit there seem to be a few reasonably priced candidates on the web
