  1. Get well soon Dan I always thought "Soccer" was a cissy's game didn't realise you could actually get properly injured. Make sure you take it easy for a while when you get "released" and let those ribs heal properly. Peteg
  2. Good for you Chris Clever Ploy to get the 60 odd boats over in the car park to scare the cod over into the Bay Peteg

  4. I carry my toolbag with me on board and use this for general wire and thick nylon trace cutting http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchB...oduct&R=2081988 Its a super sharp tool that requires minimal effort to operate. I didn't buy it specifically for the boat but for my general electrical/electronic site work . It hasn't shown any signs of rust yet and is still razor sharp after 10 years. Peteg
  5. Coddy, You sure you want to pay the price http://www.cdet.co.uk/catalogue/product/de...sp?productid=PU Scroll down the pricing box for side cutter and needle nose prices Alternatively there is always the following http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__stainless-s...6.c0.m14&_pgn=6 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KAMASA-STAINLESS-STE...A2%7C240%3A1318 or probably better quality http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STAINLESS-STEEL-MULT...A2%7C240%3A1318 Peteg
  6. Graham, I've experienced the buoy going under like Charlie and I 've added a further two largish round fenders to the boat these are attched to the handrail using 12 mm rope and large stainless steel carabine locks (the ones with the sprung catch along one side of the loop) If I'm having trouble driving out my anchor I remove them from the handrail and clip them to the existing buoy increasing buoyancy by about 40-50% and this works a treat(so far) Would definately recommend going for biggest buoy you can accommodate on board Peteg

    Leaders

I agree with Adam Leaders all the time , But be prepared to modify the length depending upon the conditions. Long Leaders leaving Knot on reel as Charlie likes is my norm however if there's weed around this increases risk of weed jamming in top eye with the added risk of fish loss due to lack of control bringing it to net. In this case I would shorten leader considerably to allow fish to be netted before braid knot and weed hit top eye. I normally have a variety of coloured mono for leaders and use a different colour on each rod.I find this helps when fishing multiple rods and clearing the inevitable tangle . Please don't wrap braid around hand you'll regret it
  8. Does this mean I wont be able to access my boat for the 23rd Nov Competition? I will go down tomorrow probably post meeting and try and find her. Rich I Don't Suppose you saw her I was moored about 30 metres away from you on the same side of F pontoon but further to the finger end.

    Aeolian Sky

Guys, I was confused regarding the .csv files As soon as Duncan mentioned GDM6 I realised that was the program I used to get my data onto the sd card. I have consequently reloaded the data into GDM6 and edited it where necessary having been given a couple of modified coordinates from my main mark "source" All coordinates have been confirmed as WGS84 and I will reload them with the gps set to WGS84 on the weekend. Hopefully out for a test on Sunday .If weather as good as forcast will probably head for the Marks you gave me Charlie and see if I can pick up a confirmed wreck Peteg

    Aeolian Sky

Guys , Thanks for info Would be interested in name of programme if available. Last time I just converted my excel spreadsheet data into a csv file and down loaded it onto an sd card. I followed the instructions to copy the data file into the gps memory and there they were. I need to find the book I used to source the majority of the numbers to find out what datum was used. it will save a lot of petrol Peteg

    Aeolian Sky

ooooooh deary me Thanks for info Steve I'll have to do another download I've probably got around 100 to re-enter. I remember entering the originals by hand but I think I managed to download the majority off my computer using .csv file format. I may be wrong as memory not as good as it used to be. I'll reread the manual to find the easiest way. One way or another I going to make sure they match the marks in future. Peteg

    Aeolian Sky

Charlie, Yes I can Confirm I am now on the WGS84 DATUM. I will definately recheck some of my marks using this when I'm next out. I couldn't find them before so I hope I will be able to now Managed to Christen my new Fladen Maximus 3/0 on Sunday and was very pleased with its performance. I could even cast with it(although not very far). As long as it continues to perform as it did I will be very happy with the purchase it was nicer to use than my Charter Special and I like that one I'd Like to test it against something with a bit of size and power .(Excluding the Missus) Pete

    Aeolian Sky

Charlie, I guess the Eel God is hankering to get to the Sky! I checked the datum when I Got back to berth and found it was set to an English datum rather than the Standard default(Can't remember actual names and don't have plotter handy) Anyway they both seemed to match when I changed to default. I even checked GPS reading with chart and measured distance from end of pontoon to boat and gps and paper chart were identical. The only difference was that the Navionics Gold Chart overlay showed me on dry land . A drawing error of around 20feet I'm using the default datum standard now but haven't been back to check wreck site due to weather being snotty! I was out with my son and grandaughter on Sunday and we had gurnard and small bream but it wasn't very comfortable drifting the patches with the wave heights as they were. Still boat handles the seas pretty well and if wind dies down I willl definately head for the marks you suggested. Pete

While your at it Mine's on Bournemouth Patch a nice 7.5kg Manson with plenty of chain and and about 30feet of 12 mm anchorplat Re the Sky were there any really big eels there? Peteg
  21. Gordon , It might well be the same reel as the IGFA6lb rod is equivalent to a 12-2olb class Photo of size 4 reel is on link.Mine is smaller size 3/0 http://www.whitbyanglingsupplies.com/catal...77de5f188010b1f
  22. Thanks for the feedback Gordon I haven't used it yet and when I do it will be for general all round fishing on the Alba IGFA 6lb rod I bought from Tom For my heavy fishing I use an ABU20(again lever dag) on an Uglystick All Roller 30lb class, the combination act like a crane and will handle most if not all uk fishing requirements. Although around 30years old they still work a treat! Peteg
  23. Hi Steve, Glad to see you remembered the club web address. As Martin Says why not consider joining the club you'll get more out of it than a forum member. I don't suppose you've managed to get out much over the last month or so due to the weather , although with your fifty knots capability a quick squirt would get you into sheltered waters pretty quickly. Hope to see you this weekend if I'm Allowed out and weather OK Peteg your next pontoon neighbour
  24. Charlie The best show is saved until 10.30 pm tomorrow(Thursday) Rich Hall is going to take us all fishing and expound his theories of life opon us . Having seen the Trailer I reckon it will be pretty funny and not many fish caught but will have to wait and see. Peteg
  25. Belated Birthday Greetings Dan Peteg
