  1. we were about 5 miles south of the needles on a bank so tackle losses werew very minimal just one case of slipknot on a shad
  2. perhaps a storm shad would have worked??? i changed plans after hearing saturdays catch reports from my weymouth chums and decided a return to poole sat night and out from poole sunday was the way to go , good decision took a couple of friends and ones nipper to try for bass off the needles we managed about 40 to 6LBall bar 3 were caught on storm shads the fish were so thick we managed 9 fish in the last 2 drifts with only 3 knots of tide and 4oz leads making things very enjoyable

  12. most also have small exhaust ports at the top of the leg as water pressure is to great at idle for the exhaust gases to exit via the prop
  13. 14th is a very small tide the inshore stuff will if history repeats itself be rather quiet 21st would be a better bet unless you are anchoring for conger etc
  14. took some punters over the wight today all semi novice all caught best about 7lb they came on live mackerel live sandeel and storm shads
  15. 10% is correct i was always of the opinion that the warriors and the like were modifications of the old icelander hull as they all originate from the same corner of our green and pleasant land and the underwater lines all bear an uncanny resemblence to one another

  19. pennel with the top hook tied in position using the same metod as if the hook were spade end , hook this through the bottom lip and back out the nose to keep the mouth from opening to much the lower hook is loosely nicked in the skin near the anal fin also works on large launce works for me
  20. some skippers do fish the full tide for eels but they are in areas where the tides are much slacker ie east of selsey or west of portland as for the feeding habits they depend on the bait fish ive been anchored catching eelsa in lyme bay and the other boat with us was knocking out bass on another wreck 3 miles away????? i would disagree about wreck cod and pollack the cod are close to or on the bottom all the time but can be found several hundred feet from the wreck if the bait fish are there the pollack generaly tend to shoal higher in the water as the tide increases i think the reason being that as the water hits the wreck its forced upwards(hence the boil seen on the surface on some) which leaves a slack area above the wreck where the fish sit waiting for their dinner ground fish tope conger ling huss etc seem to feed in any tide the limiting factor to catching is how much tide we can fish in ive caught congers in 200ft in 3.5knots of tide while not easy the fish were eager to feed !!!!

matt have you ascertained if your alternator is working i e what does the dash voltmeter read you have to wait for the engine to reach a certain temp for this as the cats have an inlet manifold heater which causes the voltmeter to show no charge untill the engine reaches about 40 c if the voltmeter reads between 26 and 28 volts after this then the alternator is ok the other cause of knackered batterys is if you have been useing the inverter with out the engine running those things draw about 70 amps when boiling a kettle so at least with the engine running the the batterys are getting something like 60 amps back in without the batterys dont last 5 minutes if you have any questions give me a shout
