I reckon any fish of 100% speciman should be passed over to the press, with a mention of the club. Shows we are an active bunch. One thing I have noticed is that they sometimes fail to include catch and release, and we're pretty big on that. Rich

Surface mackeral indicate surface fry........indicative of low air pressure, but how long they are able to charge about hunting would be dominated by upper level O2 levels. Interesting that they were feeding for while!! Glad everyone got home safely. Its amazing how a relatively empty intercoastal channel soon fills up with "Skinny" boats over in Florida, with the onset of the afternoon storms at this time of year. They do leave it late to get home! Despite it being law over there for a boat skipper to ensure all POB have adequate life preservers, none of them seem to don jackets in inclement weather. I appreciate that their system of predicting the weather is far more accurate than ours, with weather tools that give almost exact arrival times of storms in specific towns. If any of you have time, have a quick look at www.baynews9.com, and click on the weather update, its very impressive how they have these tools and we seem to languish in the dark ages!!!! Anyway, glad you all got home safely, and I'm glad that the club puts such an emphasis on safety at sea. Rich

Back home to a heatwave, same as Florida heatwise, even having the five o clock thunder, just a tadd early at midday!! Heres a Sheepshead caught on the dock at the accomodation, taken on ultra light telescopic rod, 10lb mono, size 6 full circle hook, baited with a whole barnacle. I'll put a couple of shots on, to show you the immense rows of crushing teeth like pads inside the mouth, also check out the huge rasping teeth. This one was hooked a treat, right in the corner of the mouth, just as a circle should. Didnt weigh the fish, but I reckon around the two pound mark. These toothy criters average 1lb to 4lb, I think the largest caught around where I stayed was about ten pounds. This one fought like fury, so a decent speciman would certainly put a bend on the rod!!!

Way to go Sam!!! Nice one!! Will call you over the weekend regarding goodies from across the pond BB Rich

The first post Ive read since returning from hollidays, a very kind and friendly gesture befitting reminding me of scattering my grandfathers ashes, down in Hastings, where he spent his whole life either on the sea, or making a living from it selling a catch on his fish stall. Hats off Tom and Martin. Rich

Two Irishmen walk into a pet shop in Dingle. They head to the bird section and Gerry says to Paddy, "Dat's dem." The owner comes over and asks if he can help them. "Yeah, we'll take four of dem dere little budgies in dat cage up dere," says Gerry. The owner puts the budgies in a cardboard box. Paddyand Gerry pay for the birds, leave the shop and get into Gerry's truck to drive to the top of the Connor Pass. At the Connor Pass, Gerry looks down at the 1000 foot drop and says, "Dis looks like a grand place." He takes two birds out of the box, puts one on each shoulder and jumps off the cliff.Paddy watches as the budgies fly off and Gerry falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself stone dead. Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Paddy shakes his head and says, "Boogar dat. Dis budgie jumping is too flippin' dangerous for me! THERE'S MORE... Moment's later, Seamus arrives up at Connor Pass. He's been to the pet shop too and walks up to the edge of the cliff carrying another cardboard box in one hand and a shotgun in the other. "Hi, Paddy.Watch dis," Seamus says. He takes a parrot from the box and lets him fly free. He then throws himself over the edge of the cliff with the gun. Paddy watches as half way down, Seamus takes the gun and shoots the parrot.Seamus continues to plummet down and down until he hits the bottom and breaks every bone in his body. Paddy shakes his head and says, "And I'm never trying dat parrotshooting either!" IT IS NOT OVER YET... Paddy is just getting over the shock of losing two friends when Sean appears. He's also been to the pet shop and is carrying a cardboard box out of which he pulls a chicken. Sean then takes the chicken by its legs and hurls himself off the cliff and disappears down and down until he hits a rock and breaks his spine. Once more Paddy shakes his head. "For heavens sake lads. First dere was Gerry with his budgiejumping, den Seamus parrotshooting...and now Sean and his flippin hengliding!"

I must admit Charlie, it seems that far more 100% fish are coming to the net this season. I'd think hat the fish recorders job must be a pleasurable one Rich PS. Whay aren't you sweating your 'nads off in the wheelhouse???

Mikey.......does it simply drop when on the equator???? <gg> It was a wierd thing seeing water flow the wrong way down the plughole when shaving down in the Falklands, thats the Islands , Mike, not code for nether regions!!! No, seriously, I will nip into the Bass Pro shop in orlando on Friday, to look at their livewell gear, and compare prices. If stuff looks reasonable, I'll purchase some bits to maybe knock out a couple of livewells and give them a spin on Ebay I'll also bring back some 2006 catalogues. I'll try not to think of you guys worjing back home, but I do know I'm missing some cracking Bassing weather Rich

Spot on James, well done. Rich

Cracking result Adam........major difference in fuel consumption. Good to see a better size of summer fish coming from the offshore areas, maybe your winter PB will take a hammering this winter season.......I hope not!!! I only manged a meagre 6lb fish out of weymouth yesterday, and the bass really werent playing, but two Cod for me in two trips, after a three year famine, I was chuffed. Having the old op today, so wont be holding a rod untill.......oooooooooo, at least friday, see you guys when I get back. How did you catch that Baracuda again Gordy?? Tight lines lads, Rich

Dan, I'll PM you. Rich

Crazy...double check the guarentee. Shimano rods are covered for a period of three years!! Rich

Dan, you can fix the pump on the back of the boat on a small plate, Adam has one on BW. Seeing as mine comes with me wheni'M ON DIFFERENT BOATS, ITS DIFFICULT TO CLAMP, SO i JUST LOB THE PIPE OVERBOARD WHEN DRIFTING, AND RECYCLE THE WATER IN THE TANK WHEN UNDER WAY. ooooPPPPPPS CAPS LOCK!!!! rICH......AGED 12 3/4 <G>

Simon, the tank was designed with a small boat in mind. Ive fished on many charters who have purpose built livewells flown in from the states, huge blue vessels chopped down looking extremely tacky, most of them do the job, I guess it was just aesthetics which made me think about this one. It sits in the back corner of a Warrior 165, direct access to the starbord battery, a shock chord holds it in place when you are doing "rabbit" speed across the ogin, and once emptied, its extremely portable. I do, however, like the idea of a controllable current inside the tank, something that the TEKTANK system allows, however, I still feel that a good circualtion is essential in keeping your livebait in tiptop condition. If the bait is spot on, the quarry is taken easier, IMHO. Whilst I'm across the pond, I will look at different diffusers, and maybe buy one to incorporate in my design, but, I must say that it works very well without this addition. I think that the overall cost for this tank was +/-

Simon Diameter is 13inches and height is 25 inches. It kept 50 x 5inch rainbows alive all day, I anticipate 10 joeys would be OK. Rich

Dan, I'm flying to Florida early doors on Friday, so no can do, sorry chap. See if James or PJ are heading out. Rich
-
Good question Tom, I have made a second down pipe, with holes in one direction!!!!!! Rich
-
I also added a small aerator on a strap on the top, it enters via a small hole drilled just under the lid, and runs from a 12v battery. This is my set up, we used it to god effect a couple of weeks ago, posted for Dan really, as I cant be arsed to drive over to his gaff and show him Rich
-
When you have finished using the tank, all components come apart very quickly, and can be stowed inside.
