  3. Charlie, how many hermits will we need for the trip? I'll speak to the guys in Weymouth for our supply. Also, have u a trap that you can put down at work?? If I bring some back with me next time I fish weymouth...next week, then you can keep them alive at work, I'm sure that will work. Rich

    Rubbish Tip

Mark, for lighter braid fishing, I doubt you'll find a better small reel. Billy found me one, and I paid
  5. I'd echo the remarks on the solic carbon Fladden, its a superb actioned rod.
  6. Sam, we're getting peelers up in the mid to top reaches of Southampton Water, so you should be getting them on the beaches near you. Dead easy to spot...pinch the lower section of the leg, if it falls away and leaves flesh...the crab is a peeler, or ready to "pop". Bets storage, as I'm sure your dad knows, is in a tray, in the fridge, and spray them with sea water occasionally. Peelers here are 80p each...extortionate if you ask me, when you can collect boatloads in one trip to the tide reach. If you get stuck, I'll try Marchwood, Magazine Lane, for some reason that is a prolific peeler harvesting ground. Rich Ps I'll speak to BB re. hermits for the chater trip ok??
  7. Wise words from a young head............your father has taught you well!
  8. Nice one James, are you having another crack next week? If so, and you need crew, I'm up for it. Rich
  9. What Mikey neglected to tell you, is that to stop a heaving sea sickness feeling, a six inch nail is required to penetrate this area of soft skin, the pain takes over, thus rendering a seasickness feeling in the depths of subconciousness!!! Rich
  10. Mike.....I'd actually go along with casting awards for wanging a sinker through an encroaching boats wheelhouse window, although I feel this may attract attention from unwanted quarters!! Rich
  11. An evening trip out with Charlie and Sam on Great White yesterday evening. Alas no Bream, however it was intersting to see Wedgers Magnet in operation for the first time. Just hanging it over the side of the boat dragged in surface feeders with ease. It was also intersting to see the speed at which it drops in slackish water, the slick on the surface, and the results......which were rapid. Ive used the bag method described by john, a very cheap and easy method of bottom bait distribution, but to see the magnet dissipate in the tide was good. I'll try that one. Rich
  12. Oi, Oi, Lardy Boy! Hiya Mark, welcome to the madhouse! Hope that you enjoyed the trip across to Alderney. Feel free to share info from up north, but if you're visiting south of the Gap in future, please bring your own pies! Rich AKA Guinness Guzzler
  13. Sam.......it's encouraging to see such enthusiasm for any hobby by a teenager these days, you remind me of someone I know!! Apparently, as a child, from the age of six, every time I opened my mouth, a fish swam out, and unfortunately, 35 years on, it hasnt changed much! Rich
  14. Usefull site Duncan.....have registered for the impending FLA holliday!! Rich
  15. Charlie, I havent a match on that date, so if space is available, I'd like to join you and the boys please......I havent fished out of langstone in years!! Rich
  16. James.....any chance of mailing me a pic of the Brill and Turbot please.....my camera didnt come out all week! Ta, Rich
  17. Great to see the Loyal Royal on the water again.......met the guys down in Weymouth, grabbed an ale, and had a natter. Top shots re the new species, and another mark in the plotter Mark....nice one. Rich

    Hi Spurdog

    Spurdog, welcome aboard. Rich
  19. Welcome aboard Darren....enjoy! Rich
  20. Alex.........getting back to your excellent report, what fly do you recommend for the gars, and do you use the normal tippet, or tie a longer version? I'd appreciate some guidance on that one please. Cheers, Rich
  21. Mikey.......I know this begs the question, where does he park his big tank at weekends?? Which begs the reply.............Anywhere he likes!!!!! Rich
  22. Duncan, Chris, the guy who B&B's us will give you areas best suited for fishing specific tide states and times, his knowledge is supreme! If you are seriously looking for the trip, and need a deck hand to share fuel costs, look no farther!! After a bad day three, I'm well up for some more flattie fishing!!! The shallow water pollacking on day one was superb also, it threw up a wrasse of just under 8lbs i believe.....to Richard English' One for his nob, what a specimen that was!!! Rich
  23. Charlie, are you full space wise mon or tues if you sneak out after work?? If so, and you need crew, I am available. Cheers, Rich
  24. Kam, if you have the budget, I would vote for the Isuzu Trooper, Bighorn, this vehicle tows the weed cutting boat, which weighs in at around 2.5 tons, with ease, and is possibly the comfiest 4x4 I have driven, it out strips my HI-Lux, Dads Land Rover, and various Shoguns I've driven. The torque on it is tremendous, well worth a look. Rich
