  1. Much the same as Adams report really, early start for me, collecting Gordon, and arriving at the slip promptly. The T.S. parking space available, parked and launcehed both boats. I crewed for Bob F for a first time, and found the ride quite different to other boats I have crewed on. Getting onto the mark, we fished near the pinnacle I believe(??), and Bob managed a couple of Pout, one being taken on the retrieve by what Bob described as a shark like shape, biting through the line in an instance. I managed a Whiting of about 2lb, and lost a reasonable conger. With the whiting still in a large bucket, we moved position, re anchored and set up to fish the end of the tide. Bob decided to throw back his large pout, that was apparently languising in the large bucket, filled with water. The fish released, and a flick of the tail, back to the depths........"Bob??? that was my whiting!!" cried Rich, "Ahhhh this is my new catch and release policy", explains Bob!! with a gaff like that, no wonder he didnt want to join us for a pint!!! Great day out Bob, thanks, and thanks for the offer of tuition, which I will take up on a calmer day. Cheers buddy. Rich
  2. Hiya Leah......and welcome aboard!! Hit those lads for six this coming competition year, soak up Dads knowledge and go for it!!! Regards.....Rich
  3. Charlie, the three species concerned here are: Common Skate, Black Skate, and White Skate. Without checking on latin names on the schedule, I'm not sure which specific fish these are, so I'm not sure that the directive applies in southern waters. I'll have a look at the document when I'm back from work, ( Work???? whats that??!!), and post again this evening. I'm wondering whether the fact that Weymouth has been listed as an historic site has any implications of trawling of this coatline?? I somehow doubt it! Call me a sceptic! (Most do!!). The Angel shark has also been offered protection here, as has a species of seahorse. Regards, Rich
  4. Welcome aboard........hope you enjoy the banter. Rich
  5. Martin..............you're getting a dab hand at this!! I can see me attending nightschool!!! Rich
  6. Personally, I think that the important aspect of this thread is the fact that its not just the fish which has been placed on the schedule, but the HABITAT as well. Under section 24 of the wildlife and countryside act 1981, three species of skate have been offerred protection, but an appendix also ensures that their habitat has been offered protection under the EC Habitats & Species Directive. This is the way forward for protection of our fish stocks, not only protecting the species itself, but their living and breeding sites. How they intend to police this directive, I still dont know, and how they will enforce the habitat protection issue, or gather evidence to ensure the prosecution of offenders will, I feel, be too expensive to put into practice. I hope I'm wrong!! Rich
  7. Hiya Guys.....thanks to Adam F for another fruitfull trip on BW. After meeting up with Manic en route, I firmly believe he was trying to aasert his place in club pecking order by driving off at warp factor ramming speed, leaving Rich struggling along behind in Percy pick up!! After booking in, and getting to the slip, we were met with about four inches of sea at the end of the slip. Adams knowledge paid off here...........grab the pick up Rich, and tow out the trailer after we drop her off the end of the slip. Launch complete, trailer stowed, lads aboard, we steamed out. At anchor I suddenly realised I hadn't placed a ticket on the windscreen of the pick up, ( I usually park up the road in a TS freebie site), unlucky Rich retorts Adam...they're as hot as a hot thing down there for tickets!! Certain I was in for a sixty quidder, I got down to fishing. Both Adam and Gordon managed to squeak out a flattie, I was just pleased to have got some fun making the bloody rigs!!! Change of location, a flounder for me!! One apiece, we steamed home happy(ish) with the thought of having to work an extra day to pay for my parking ticket!! After fighting our way through a plethora of Marine motorbikes at the slip, recovery was swift, Percy obviously was wearing his cloaking device......no parking ticket for me!! Phewwwwww!! One thing of concern here amid this lighthearted report, it appears that our jetski friends have taken it upon themselves to use Baiter Car Park as a paint ball warzone. Sixty or more shots were fired at what appeared to be friends vehicles. Having taken part in Paint Ball, I'd be miffed if one of those stray rounds had made contact with me, the firer of the weopon in question, posibly having a steel enema!! One to watch on Sundays perhaps?? A great day, some naff prizes won, thanks to Adam F and Manic for good company, hers to myy next trip on Thursday. Regards..tight lines all Rich

  15. There's more to this painting and decorating lark than I imagined!!!! A degree in computer science is also required!!!!! You guys never fail to amaze me with your techy knowledge!! Rich
  16. Have you looked at the range from Fox?? I think they are predominantly a coarse tackle maker, specialising in Carp gear...any views adam??...I know they were bringing out a sea range...look at these as they will be very well priced with their introduction into saltwater tackle. Rich
  17. After a good blow, and with an onshore, the bass down our way, Lepe, in particular, drop right in on the breakers, so a mere flick out past the roller will hook uo. Also the flatties tend to sit in the dip just beyound the first shingle dip there. I guess other venues are similar, but it's just having the confidence to try a short flick when others are launching baits towards the horizons!!! Billy, I would love a small meet somewhere to fish a friendly day on the shore, I think Bob F and Adam are up for a little shore sesh too, but Jan and feb are notoriously bad down this neck of the woods!! Ps. Did you get the mags I sent you BB?? Rigs are in the back section matey. Rich
  18. Hiya, and welcome to our site, I'd like to echo Martins line, about boaters, and add, home of a few bloaters too!!! Enjoy our company, tight lines, Rich
  19. Charlie, do the fish move closer in after a good blow off Old Harry?? Last time i fished after a bout of wind, I took a few blondes, and was fairly close in. Rich...................ps....it wasnt me with wind, before the comments start!!! (Although it has been known!)
  20. Silly question perhaps Charlie........but how does one distinguish between the different types of rockling?? Regards, Rich

  22. The joys of the Beautifull Game!!!!! Debs and I watched the midweek match last week....at least they are scoring goals!! Now Sam......that game...Rugger, much enjoyed and played by my good self.... the game played by two teams of fifteen blokes, with odd shaped balls!!! Bring back the decent weather PLEASE! Rich
  23. Dave, which part of the beach were you fishing?? Dad used to take me down there night fishing when I was about 7, and Dabs were the catch of the day back then. I also seem to recall loads and loads of pout. Are we going to oraganise a little soiree from the beach closer to home?? I'd like to see if can mange a few from the shore sometime. Regards, Rich
