Hi Jim , great to hear you are out and about on the water, reving about at thirty miles an hour, site seeing, enjoying the fresh air, soaking up the sun etc, as rob says fish are a bonus, so just checking , when you chuck a line over with a little lump of lead on it, there is something you can buy at a good tackle shop, it is like strong wire bent a bit with a sharpe end you can attach a bit of bait of some sort that does improuve your chances, i think they call it a hook ! are you using one ? just jokeing Jim, i bet before some of us get out again you are the one reporting mackereal coming up five at a time, and if so you had better tell us where ! Hi Rob, there has been a few caught but not in big numbers according to reports, i caught a male black bream last weekend and a male mackerel. i think the water is still murky at the moment, hope it soon clears i for one am hoping to soon venture out again. Colin.

Hi Jerry, I would be interested, does it need new tryers? i presume so, looked on tinternet could not see size of. As shops seem to be shut difficult to gain knowledge. may be you could print details of tyres and or potentially availability? i guess this is an obsolete model but would think tryes could be obtained. Or just size and make, and one of our "furlonged" clubmates could research availabiliyy for you . If someone does come up trumps i will pledge a fiver to our club H O W fund. Thanks Colin..

Hi Adrian, Sound advise from Dave as ever, Probably worth mentioning at this point though, you are about to make a substantial investment, dont spoil the ship for the sake of a half-pennies worth of tar, i refer to the battery, as an engineer i would say keep the one with the boat now as a spare, buy a new battery, and make sure it is rated at or above what you need, that is a fair engine to start. in my opinion the most important thing going out to sea is not actually the fishing, it is the safe return back to base. batteries and isolators are a subject of there own, Charlie put a post on here worth you reading, to avoid that happening to you. Hi Adrian, congratulations on buying your first boat, its a very exciting feeling iam sure, well done . not sure when you will be able to launch it though, especially if there is an extended lockin for 70 year olds, we have all got to hope and prey. when we can launch at Baiter again i feel sure i will be down and could help you get your boat in the water , may be talk details nearer the time, i remember it being a scary feeling going out to sea for the first time, i was helped by two expert fisherman in particular, Allan Green (Fisheagle) and Frank Morris ( Happy Hookers ) Frank is an expert at launching at baiter , knows and understands all there is to know about the tides, probably worth giving Frank a P M , sure he will be pleased to help, we often set out together, you may like to buddy along to gain some experience. And yep, Rob and Richards comments are probably justified. Just have to play and see. Well the exciting wait starts now! Best Wishes Colin. P S. I would consider asking Frank when you do a sea trial if i were you to assist and advise, franks boat is similar size.

Seems to me Martin, for the first time in the Clubs history there is one speed limit throughout the entire harbour, 0 m p h or 0 Knots per hour for all us recreational anglers, I guess we are all yearning to use the 10 knot per hour limit we often curse about in the summer months! 😂 Colin

Ditto , Mal, it does make me wonder, Boris keeps warning people because not everyone is taking advise. Some people think it is not going to be me , coronavirus is for the others , well today was a classic with people out in the countryside, i witnessed people go through the fields on a footpath, not a problem to me or my sheep with one to ten day old lambs, so wheres the problem? Since none of them thought to put new gloves on or sanitise there hands after opening and shutting the four feet six wide steel galvanised gate i wondered if the first one today had left any virus on the gate or latch how many of the other twentyish would have been infected? Absolutely Frightening. I think it was Brian that hinted the other day in a post that i was in a good position to distance isolate out in the open fields and fresh air and so did i , but i now realise i need to remember one of my friends , he had a few "sayings" and one of them was , " The world is full of half~wits" Seen some today! Hi Guys, pubs , clubs, restaurants, etc seem to have been targeted today, plus no gatherings above five people, so how is the position at cobbs quay,? and yacht club Charlie? this is all starting to look very frustrating and may be more prolonged than has been reported up till tonight . The job looks like dragging on a long time. Who ordered easterlies Jerry? well not my new born lambs, they would like it warmer, but at least its a bit drier on average, thats a start!

Jerry, Sadly i can not make it down and as you say it looks o k Mon/Thurs, but with you and Allan (two top fishermen) going out it will be good market research for the rest of us in the club as to what is about, Good luck , hope a few more do join you, look forward to reports.

Thanks Andy, good sound advise, i understand some people drop a marker bouy near to the wreck as well to help relocate after a drift as well, and with a smaller second marker bouy as well can help predict the wind/tide pull if anchoring was prefered. Thanks Colin.
