yes very well done Dave Jan Frank and Kev iam sure the rest of us enjoyed the day as well, thanks to all the organizers , hope more will support it next year, the banter and food afterwards made it worth attending the event! I realize flounder fishing has got to be somewhat of a challenge, indeed i believe new tactics were employed by some club boats yesterday, mainly quietly parking on the mud at the top end out the way and considering digging for the little rascals, i guess if this method was proven to be successful we would just have to consider the max size of spade rather than number of rods!

Hi Rob, Did you read my description? its pretty much immaculate, so you could look up on Orkney boats site,it has the cuddy on it, iam selling for a friend, six or seven grand would be a talking point nothing is set in stone. Boat for sale, pretty much immaculate, ready to go fishing, cruising etc, it is a Orkney Longliner 2 16 ft. With a good road trailer, it has a cuddy and cover, Mercury 20 elpt 4 stroke 5hp auxilliary, there are many extras to go with boat , fishfinder, tender with electric motor boat is 4 years old from Orkney boats, main engine has been serviced, has done about twenty hours from new, if a club member is looking to buy a first boat, this deal will have everything you could possibly want plus quite a few more , any interest i will post more details. Interesting post Jim, Excellent photos of Frank and Andy, is that taken with a phone or a camera? "they say" every picture tells a story, and this one is no exception, so i feel obliged to fill in the story. Frank was not just passing Andys shop, he had gone to interrogate Andy as to what lures he sold me last trip down that i caught a nine lbs one ounce bass on . With Andy sworn to secrecy picture one shows Franks response, Picture two shows Frank holding tight onto two lures in his right hand pocket, after soaping Andy up with a fifty pound note, The lures worked i caught five bass and had never fished with lures before, beginners luck or what? they cost about £13.50 if Andy sees this but they were £5,50 each when i was last down! Just looked at flounder forecast, done my health and safety planning, and decided like Frank us baiter boater boys would rather support the charity Heros on the water rather than try and be one! With jest , if the hamper is a problem why not have a kite flying comp, the kite needs to be in the shape of a flounder ,and the winner is the person who keeps it in the air the longest, or the highest ! So as they say on dragons den iam out Colin.

This may make sense for fish or bass conservation , i dont know, but i wonder if the "bass police" were aboard the trawler sight seeing up and down the coast off brighton a few days ago did a species count we would like to hear their findings. By a species count i mean the number of fish in each species, it could have been a frightening amount couldn't it ? possibly a significant number of bass in that. Colin.

Very interesting indeed Brian, i put a new engine on my boat earlier this year and went through a process of testing 3 props, one aluminium 2 stainless, the advice i was given about the stainless was not correct it was a prop called appolo, the best prop i found , after doing very accutate tests up wareham channel was called balistic. it seem to out perform all the others at most stages from idle to flat out ,. at preferred cruising speed especially. i achieved a top speed of 28 m p h . o yes and by the way at 25 m p h i passed the only boa t visible in the whole area on a sunday afternoon which was harbour control. i did a quick u turn to explain my reasoning for being there, they gave me a positive response told me to be mindful of any other boats if i met any, and said they would look the other way . phew i thought my sense of humor and quick thinking honesty has probably just saved me£ 1000 fine and or 3 weeks porridge! after this testing i also had the pitch increased to add further fuel efficiency The Sharrow prop seems to suggest a further 15% fuel saving could be made. i will try and pursue this but dont expect it will be easy. i will do some research. and update my findings. price ? i think 1 and 1/2 to twice the price of normal stainless prop may be? Just when most of us made the decision not to brave the rain i found out a couple of keen clubmates did , iam posting for them, their day was spent mostly catching Rays i am not going to post the coordinates on here as it is secret, "hint-hint". A grand total of 15 i believe, were hauled up biggest around 13 lb est, 3 varieties . interspersed with 8 doggies and a couple of mac. just in case anyone thinks they were mad going out in the rain i will not mention any names, Farmer Colin, P S I could not remember how big the mac was Frank and Jan!
