  1. Well done James... and a good report. I saw you out there today... tied on one of Mr Potter's buoys...... whilst I was getting my mack livebaits in the tank. Not sure whether you wanted a closer call\'Hello' ?? You've encouraged me to have a go for the triggers again ... soon...; they are such good scrappers!! I usually leave them until next month when there's less pin-bream-distraction !! Looks like next week will bring us the weather we've been missing. Alun.
  2. I'll echo Charlie's comments about this comp.\format; we struggled with it last year as well ! Lure comp is OK .... but would be better as a specimen comp .. to target a decent bass, mackerel or gar inshore ... or pollack or pout offshore [ etc.] As a species comp.......bait targets more of the species on the 'List' .... which, Charlie, doesn't have Poor cod or 'others'. Alun.
  3. NO !! It's three hooks. Trebles and pennels count as one.... so one of those big plugs with three trebles on is OK. I don't think baited hooks are allowed. Points score as per usual species hunt.

  5. Sunday is looking to be ANOTHER windy day ! ; so you might have to find another alternative date Adam.
  6. like the last [few??] days, Sunday is losing its smile for fishing !! Maybe calm[ish] early on, but by mid-morning it'll back up to the force 4 and 5 we've been having.........then rain later! perhaps August will bring improvement [?????].
  7. Anyone able to bring some to Sat.'s BBQ would be welcome !! I'll cook them! Alun.
  8. Hi Adam, might be worth taking down some cutters........ chop off any sharp bits and retrieve the expensive flashy bits ??

    trigger

Hi Andy, I look forward to getting these from late Summer into the Autumn.... close in , on rough ground, using fish strip for bait. Light bream-style tackle and they go like trains !! I'm sure they are there early..... but any thime I've tried, I can't get through the small bream. Alun.
  10. Happy Birthday Gordon ......I see you've caught me up again !! .... hope you get that 'decent present' soon !! Have a good day, Alun.

  12. Nice report and pics Adam; how did you find coming back in the dark?? I bet the radar was useful........but was it easy to see\avoid potbuoys?? You've whetted my appetite for some sole fishing again........if we get some warm , settled weather next month. Alun.
  13. Paul, As we are close to the longest day, the sun is setting close to its Northernmost. Come Dec., it'll be setting over the sea !!

    Outboard wanted

A friend of mine in Weymouth has just bought himself a little, open 13 foot Jenneau and needs an engine to go on it. Anyone know of a decent 25 hp size, at a fair price ?? I persuaded him a 4-stroke would be a better buy ..... but he's more influenced by cost !! Any help appreciated. Alun.
  15. I've discovered that newspaper is good at absorbing any 'juices'. Bins are well outside......... and I get to regularly wash them out and 'refresh' them !!
  16. I have cod heads, spines and tails etc........until bin man comes tomorrow morning. Call if you want to collect.........and have a strong nose !! [in this warm weather !!]. Alun.

    Knots

Hi Terry, Just a thought....... you mentioned over the weekend about a damaged ring; could this have abraded your braid and weakened it in parts that had caught it a bit ?? Alun. Ps......I don't think braid deteriorates to any great extent; I've got lots that's much older and is just fine !!
  24. Well done to all on Alfresco...... time and hard work paying off !! Congrats Tom !! Super fish, well angled............a plan that came together !! That'll keep you talking for quite a while ?? !! Alun.
