Anyone fancy joining us on an impromtu trip to Weymouth ... as the weather is so nice and the tides are small. I'm trailing Gastro down to Portland and Terry is bringing Stingray from Oxford and we are launching at Castletown at about 7.30 Sorry about short notice ... only got back from Spain last eve [ and keen to enjoy this weather ] Plan to fish the banks early and mussel beds later. Post, arrive or call on Ch 6 in the morning. We have a banker for fish if all else fails !! Alun.

Mike, If you click on 'Club records', above, it gives the specimen weights that we still use. Alun.

Craig.... 'still upset over the Bass though. Charlie my biggest goal since fishing out of Poole has been to catch large Bass, and I was so so close. But as you say next time.' .......the offer to come on mine is still open.... given reasonable weather, we'll get you a few bass!!... might even be a big one !! Alun.

... and I always thought Betamax was a better format !! ..and preferred the smaller casettes!!

Well done John!! ... I've seen him fish... it's not 'Sp***ny' ... it those special addititives on the bait !! Results from Joint Venture :- Bob F. 8 lbs 8 oz Alun J. 7lbs 8 oz. I'll leave Bob to report first.

Well done James... and a good report. I saw you out there today... tied on one of Mr Potter's buoys...... whilst I was getting my mack livebaits in the tank. Not sure whether you wanted a closer call\'Hello' ?? You've encouraged me to have a go for the triggers again ... soon...; they are such good scrappers!! I usually leave them until next month when there's less pin-bream-distraction !! Looks like next week will bring us the weather we've been missing. Alun.

I'll echo Charlie's comments about this comp.\format; we struggled with it last year as well ! Lure comp is OK .... but would be better as a specimen comp .. to target a decent bass, mackerel or gar inshore ... or pollack or pout offshore [ etc.] As a species comp.......bait targets more of the species on the 'List' .... which, Charlie, doesn't have Poor cod or 'others'. Alun.
-
NO !! It's three hooks. Trebles and pennels count as one.... so one of those big plugs with three trebles on is OK. I don't think baited hooks are allowed. Points score as per usual species hunt.

Sunday is looking to be ANOTHER windy day ! ; so you might have to find another alternative date Adam.
-
like the last [few??] days, Sunday is losing its smile for fishing !! Maybe calm[ish] early on, but by mid-morning it'll back up to the force 4 and 5 we've been having.........then rain later! perhaps August will bring improvement [?????].
-
Anyone able to bring some to Sat.'s BBQ would be welcome !! I'll cook them! Alun.
-
Hi Adam, might be worth taking down some cutters........ chop off any sharp bits and retrieve the expensive flashy bits ??
-
Hi Andy, I look forward to getting these from late Summer into the Autumn.... close in , on rough ground, using fish strip for bait. Light bream-style tackle and they go like trains !! I'm sure they are there early..... but any thime I've tried, I can't get through the small bream. Alun.
