  1. So, My son has now decided that he wants a boat (after having a day in Weymouth bay yesterday). He has been watching "you tube" videos all day of Parker 790's and wants to see one in the flesh. Ill now be missing the football πŸ˜—and going on Saturday 19th.
  2. Ive created a page with the emergency procedure clearly written. Ill get it laminated and itll have a position on the boat too.
  3. It will be done by my next time out. Thank you.
  4. Many thanks Rob. I spoke with a very helpful guy who pointed me in the right direction. You are right, the MMSI is to the boat so I applied for a copy of my license (with updated address and boat details) and a new MMSI number and call sign. All downloaded and in my new "boat" file in my office.

    MMSI numbers

Guys n Gals, I dont ever remember applying for an MMSI number, but checking on the club database that I've recently been made guardian of, It would seem that I had one when I first joined 20 years ago. I did have a radio license although I have absolutely zero idea where that might be now! I have however changed my boat 3 times since then and have just recently changed my radio. On setting up the new radio, it asked for my MMSI number (which I didn't realise I had) so I skipped that bit for now. Is there a way I can find out if that MMSI number is registered to me, my boat, the radio or what? Thanks in advance.
  6. Lets start a list. Martin - anyday Graham - 19th (with my son)
  7. She obviously cant put up with your sulky face any more!
  8. Jim (nothing to do with fishing), but because I travel a lot (when I'm busy, or during the football season) and she likes to arrange theatre visits, my wife and I share a free "online diary" called TIMETREE. Its excellent, we enter anything just like an ordinary diary and it automatically shares with both of us. That way, we can each see at a glance what is booked for any time so can safely make plans without double booking.
  9. Ive promised myself every year that Im going to go to this, but as yet have never managed to make it for one reason or another. Is anyone thinking of going? Is it worth the visit? I'll not be buying anything, just drooling over stuff I cant afford really!
  10. Thank you Rob, Id appreciate that. I assume this is Terry @plaicemat that has them?
  11. well done for the effort again Martin. One of these trips, it'll all fall into place and it'll remind you why you do it.
  12. ive just searched the forums and i requested them in 2022 but never heard back. I see that they were loaned out in 2025 and they look MUCH better than mine! (although someone in Southampton is selling a set that I might go and get next week when my missus is in hospital over there)!
  13. I requested them a LLLOOONNNGGGG time ago, but no one ever knew where they were.
  14. I spent a couple of hours melting down some old weights yesterday and recycling them.
  15. I hope you have a better day tomorrow than I had today Martin. It was very disappointing.
  16. Im out tomorrow as I have to work on Monday
  17. Obviously no one took their grandchildren out! Theyll need to be a bit special to beat Daves shark for this month!
  18. Thats the model I looked at, but the 65 (also from Marine Superstore). Ive already got relief shading on my phone and tablet, but maybe next year Ill upgrade for it to be on the combo too. How do you find the side scan?
  19. Thanks Jerry, looking at his (very impressive) website, I'm guessing my little tub probably isn't Seatronix target market πŸ˜‰. Ive just looked into the model i mentioned, it would seem the pictures were deceiving and the navionics + isn't what produces the relief shading type of screen, shown on the advert. That's the "extra" navionics platinum (or something like that). It also doesn't come with appropriate transducer .... so would probably end up double my budget and more than the boat is worth!. I told you I was useless.
  20. Guys n girls. I have an old Raymarine Dragnfly4 on my boat that has done me proud for the last 8 or 9 years. BUT, it has lost its track lines and waypoint marker facility. Theres still a few old ones there, but I cant work out how to put new ones in, or how to get the track lines back). Anyway, I think its time for something new. I've got a budget of Β£500 or Β£600 been looking at the lowrance and garmins. The Garmin SV Echomap UHD2 touch looks to be a bit nicer than I'm used to, and presently showing as down from Β£830 - Β£590 at Marine Superstore with delivery tomorrow! It looks like it has Navionics+ that seems to be something like the relief shading Im using on my phone and it has "side scan". Do those of you with sidescan actually use it? The other thing to say is ..... if it is anything other than a TV or satellite, I'm technically useless! Will I be able to use it?
  21. Don't change the anchor set up, change the cable ties. I was out a couple of weeks ago and didn't have any ties so I used some 100lb line. It worked fine. Ive now got ties on it again.
  22. its 5.15 and im just leaving for weymouth. Do we drift Lulworth banks or anchor?
  23. I wanted to go hunting for something bigger tomorrow but the tide is rubbish for getting out of Ridge at anything like a sensible time, so I'm loaded up on the trailer all ready for a trip to Weymouth instead. Ill be looking at the Shambles to start. Is there anything I should know about them? I can see there's The Bill and St Albans Head within reach, but they worry me with their races and of course Lulworth Banks.
  24. So after years of using this set up and reading the comments above about the rope getting twisted around my anchor line, (which had never happened to me), I had it happen on Wednesday and it was a bit of a pain in the proverbial! When I backed up to see where the buoy was, I noticed it was twisted round the anchor line about 5 or 6 times. I have since removed the rope between the buoy and the ring.
  25. I've just arranged with my neighbour and his son to be out from Ridge on Wednesday. Low water is around 6.30am so we'll be putting the boat in at about 9. , high water is around 11. I'm open to recommendations with a youngster on board where we are likely to catch a fish. I was thinking of heading to Dolphin sands or the patch. Ill not be heading to Peverel with a youngster on board (especially his first ever boat trip).
