Im hoping to be out Sunday on Samoya with a non member. We were not necessarily going to target Bream but we might now :-)

To be fair, that was a good price for a boat with such a new motor. I see them advertised for anything up to 2 or 3 grand more than that. (Doesnt mean they actually get that price tho).
-
i remember you buying it. Nice little boat for someone.
-
I have it purely for a couple of groups im a member of. I kept getting into arguments so deleted all "friends" and all groups that have idiots in them. I must be honest i manage to get much more work done when im not stuck to facebook all day :-)

TBF if theres a "swell" Im normally at home watching the TV 😁 But we reverse away from the buoy so that I can see it before motoring off too.

Ive always had this sort of length (and it was easier to splice with plenty of spare :-) ) I have another one that was supplied to me by someone else and that is around half the length of this one although ive never used it.

I had something similar with my Raymarine when motoring. It was perfect when stationary. it was a loose transducer.

I use a 5kg plus chain. I believe this will lift much more but I've had it a long time and it fits my hatch (just).

My dad was ex navy. He used to sit at home tying knots and splicing ropes just to keep his hand in. He will be turning in his urn at my poor attempts! 😊😊

I've spent the last couple of months tidying my boat up (new deck and bits n bobs) and will be putting everything back on it soon. My anchor retrieval rope was a big loop with knots and kinks all over (an accident waiting to happen really) so I decided to watch a "YouTube" video and have a go at splicing it. I know that self praise is no praise at all, but I think it's pretty good 👍🤣

I didn't even realise there was a pubic slip at Mudeford. Ill have a look. I must be honest, I quite like the engine getting a free flush on my way up Wareham River after every trip, and it also gives my fishing partner of the day plenty of time to give us a tidy up and wash down on the way back. so having the same at Christchurch is a bonus.

congratulations on the new boat Mike. I cant wait to see what you've bought. I cant imagine you'll have any issues selling Sea Jay.

I am so excited about getting out and about this year Im compiling a list of the slipways I can use to try to keep my fuel costs down a little while exploring some different spots. I was walking around Christchurch today and Wick looks like a candidate for my I.O.W trips. It mentions it can only be used at high water, does anyone have any experience of this slip? Id guess Id probably prefer to use it at smaller tides and get there very early. Whats it like in the summer? I know about the moving channel at Mudeford so would take extra care there. Any comments would be gratefully received..

I was completely unsure what I was going to need to replace my deck so I went mad .... Im a firm believer of "Id rather be looking at it than for it" 😁 I have about 12/15 met of 600g chop strand glass (probably closer to 15 met) cost me £2.50 per met and about the same of 400g chop strand glass (cost me £2.25 per met.) I also have 25 kg of polyester resin and hardener in 5kg containers (cost me £27.72 per 5kg). Cost to me of this was about £195. Anyone looking to do some major glassing could make me a reasonable offer over £100 and save themselves a bob or two.

She could be right .... You certainly wont be missed if you fall overboard!

yes you're absolutely right. I have a large one under the mount, and two beneath the skeg. Mike (Fishermans Cafe) explained their purpose while I was devouring a large breakfast this morning :-)
-
Im heading down to the boat in a minute. Ill have a look. Thanks
-
Im not sure I have any anodes Charlie, the outboard is tilted out of the water once I moor up and the power is disconnected completely (do I need one)?
-
That's exactly what I was hoping to hear :-)

Good morning, my boat is moored up wareham river which (it would seem) is relatively fresh water. I antifouled it a couple of years ago and it has been in the water since. Most small boat owners said at the time that they only do theirs every 3 or 4 years because of the lack of need. My boat is out of the water at the moment and they are right, there is no build up on the hull and it looks pretty good. However, while its out I'm considering refreshing it again. Do I need to remove the old stuff first (because that will be the deal breaker as to whether it gets done again or not). Many thanks.

Yet another garage clear out. This has been unused probably 10 years. It needs a good clean (and air). Too bulky for me, probably suited to the real hardcore fisherman or even shore fisherman. Size XL. I'm about 16 stone and it fitted me. Free to whoever can collect (or maybe drop off at the next meeting)

how did this go Jim? I bought one years ago. I even fitted a motor on it. But i was generally too cold, too close to the water, too unbalanced, too vulnerable, too unfit and just a bit too fat :-) I sold it to a guy who said he was going to use it to paddle from Cornwall to Dover with his dog. I never heard from him again but i never read any reports in the news to suggest he either did it or failed while doing it.
