Club comps first as the core membership should come first and all other trips are secondary. On that basis I agree with your first set of dates.
That said I will go across the channel when the weather allows me especially as I didn't make the crossing last year

Hi Stephen and welcome to our clubs forum
Regarding Cobbs Quay I would say its as secure as any others in Poole. All marinas attract thieving gits on occasions but MDL (owners of Cobbs) are a pretty responsible company and at least try to look after their punters goods.

That's a good idea.
We used to have a photo comp just for fun and without polls but we can do a poll along with the photos.
Another idea could be to have a photo loaded and members put forward captions, could be fun.
Any other suggestions?

Those of you that have been using this forum for a while will know that we have in the past held competitions with prizes available for the winners. Well we have an amount of funds that could be used for forum prizes but we need some ideas regarding competitions.
If you have any ideas of a competition format or even better if you could put a reasonably taxing competition/game together we would be pleased to hear form you
Post here or pm either Paul D or myself

Your amongst friends here you will always get a lift from the station (bus or train) to the boat and we may even be able to find you a berth.
Alderney is in the planning with no date set yet but Adam will be putting together our competition and Alderney dates soon (next week or two hopefully) We usually go during the early bank holidays but more info to follow soon.
A few fellow members (me included) are hoping to get to Weymouth this year so may tag along with you on that one.
Crew should also be no problem especially as may/june are top mid channel times

Welcome Stuart, enjoy the forum and the club.
Loads of members keep their boats in Cobbs so as said above it shouldn't be to long before you meet some. What boat should they look out for and what pontoon or are you stack and store?
Looking forward to meeting you either on a club night a social do or maybe if the weather is kind on the water sometime soon.
Martin
Just looked at windfinder and the outlook for Sunday looks ok
Dean and I are chomping at the bit so if at all possible we will be out after the cod.
If the weather holds up anyone else going?
Martin
also important is to monel wire your shackles to avoid them working loose and coming undone which is bound to happen at the most inappropriate moment

I have a 6kg delta anchor attached to10 metres of 8mm chain with 140 metres of 12mm octoplait. I rarely have holding problems although in very large tides it has happened especially when I don't let out enough warp.
I used to own a warrior 195 on this I had a 7.5kg brucealike with 7 metres chain and 210 metres of 12mm nylon and again rarely had a problem holding
I think you 5kg or Duncans 7.5kg would both do the job but you will suffer less problems with the 7.5kg bruce

Your first pictures are perfect size wise but don't go bigger that will make panning across the page a necessity to view any pics and wording
Easy when you get it init
