  3. and the comp winning fish came from 6 or 7 hundred yards or so off of Ballard with my blonde rays coming from a bank just 2.9 miles off ballard along with some bass and other bits. BTW nice report Adam and thanks for being the press boat, we needed one and you undertook the task admirably Martin

    Scales

Really strange how scales can vary over a range of weights. We weighed the first blonde on the boat at around 21lb when finally weighed onshore it came in at 19lb 6oz so the original weighing was over. When Dean caught the winning gurnard it was weighed on the boat scales at 1lb 6ish but when weighed in ashore on the club scales it went 1lb 9.5oz so on this occasion the boat scales weighed under. just goes to show different scales are suited to different types of fishing Martin
  5. I would like to thank on behalf of the whole club Rob and his little team of helpers, you are all stars. It may not have been the largest entry we have had in our opens but everything went smoothly and without a hitch, how do I know this? easy really as I didn't have to do anything and that for me was pure bliss. And if any of our club sponsors are reading this an especially big thank you to you. Without your support our comp would not be what it is and thats HUGE Thanks again Martin BTW Rob whats the date for next year

  17. Paul If you don't go fishing on Sunday but still want to go on your boat a couple of us are planning on rafting up and having a picnic and drinks. You would be more than welcome to join us. We are thinking of going to Arne a very sheltered part of the harbour. Regards timing we will be out from about 11am untill we get fed up or run out of wine If you decide to come call up either AWOL or SERENITY on Ch6 for our location Same offer to all club boats and will post elsewhere Martin
  18. I use the infamous wallet After beating the boat a few times with my trusty wallet everything seems to get cured. Also on the plus side after beating the boat with it a few times the wallet strangely seems to get lighter and easier to carry So the moral of the story is use your wallet and save headaches and back pains
  19. Nice to hear the end story and good on Alun for helping out. Did you mention the club to Pete? and did he offer discount? Re Stack and store, it certainly saves a load of grief with maintenance and saves a bit in fuel but does end those last minute night forays. Everything has to be planned in advance to ensure the boat is in the drink. That said I love it (sort of) on dry stack. Oh you will not enjoy the cost of dry stack compared to swinging mooring Every option in boating has its pluses and minuses Martin
  20. Wimp Seriously though if your thinking of DIY then talk to Tony Deavin. He has just fitted one on his boat himself so has a little knowledge....yes I do know that a little knowledge can be dangerous Martin
  21. Dennis sorry to here of your woes At least you are in good hands at Salterns. One of the engineers there (Martin) has worked on AWOL several times and I have nothing but praise for him his knowledge and his skills Martin
  22. Awol with Dean, Tony and Martin
  23. Dave To make a decision as to which prop is best you will need a rev counter. You will also need to know what the manufacturer specifies as max revs. Fit a prop to the engine and load the boat with your normal traveling weight. Now try it and see what speed and revs you achieve with each prop. You are looking to get as near to the manufacturers recommended rev range without going over. Which ever prop does this is the correct one...........maybe. If it over revs you could cook the engine if you get nowhere near the rev range you will be straining the engine. Hope that helps Martin
