I will try and get there early, what time did you have in mind Charlie
Getting really excited now and can hardly wait, so much so that I am almost tempted to go now
Would appreciate any wreck numbers you can share although Dean and I passed over some very large lumps on our slow troll back last year, all marked on the charts and almost spot on the co-ords

The cable steering on Awol was really light when i first got the boat. we have since had a problem with the steering locking up but that was to do with the legg. The steering is now ok again although not as light as it was.
You do not necessarily need hydraulic steering for Auto Pilot. Raymarine are about to bring out a new system called the Sport Pilot. This is designed to go behind the boats wheel. There is an electronic controller (no not the fat one ) a fluxgate compass and a course computer. This has been fitted on Awol for trials and I will report when we have had a few trips with it. It seems to be a quality piece of kit that will retail around
I have an IceyTek box they certainly seems the business but have yet to use it in earnest so time will tell.
Regarding ice does anybody have a local supplier? or how do others manage to get sufficient ice for these large boxes?

Nice one Dave.
These Romany boats used to be made in Poole at Holton Heath on the way to sandford. The works are still there but is now divided and let to numerous small businesses.
I remember as a lad drooling over the 21 and the 23 footers. I believe they made boats up to 30' with one 30 footer still in Poole being moored off Brownsea. Mad Mike will probably have a better recollection than me as I think he once owned one

Mikes post was funny no doubt there but the picture used is copyrighted. It can still be seen by following the link and althought this detracts from the joke it is still there
We have removed copyright material before and no doubt will have to again. just to say the item was on utube meens nothing, that came from a different source and may not have been copyrighted. The picture used however is and as such cannot be used without the owners permission. As moderators thats what we are supposed to do. There are just two of us that moderate this site so we tend to read every post which takes time and is not fool proof, I am not saying we are fools but we are human With the best will in the world we will not get every decision we make correct but in this instance I feel Paul was.
Come on lads lighten up

Awol went west and first drop I was into a fish which turned out to be a Corkwing wrasse, second drop another Corkwing then a long wait Dean landed 2 Pollock to 2.5lb and a bream around 1.5lb then nothing. It got decidedly lumpy so back round to Swanage bay where it was much more comfortable where I managed to land a Spotted ray. Gave the swash a go on the way in but nothing showing. Also had a Garfish follow my squid bait right up to the boat but it wouldn

You must be really pleased with the results. I am looking forward to seeing you and "Wots the Point" back afloat, I'll make sure I have my shades on
