  4. Mikes post was funny no doubt there but the picture used is copyrighted. It can still be seen by following the link and althought this detracts from the joke it is still there We have removed copyright material before and no doubt will have to again. just to say the item was on utube meens nothing, that came from a different source and may not have been copyrighted. The picture used however is and as such cannot be used without the owners permission. As moderators thats what we are supposed to do. There are just two of us that moderate this site so we tend to read every post which takes time and is not fool proof, I am not saying we are fools but we are human With the best will in the world we will not get every decision we make correct but in this instance I feel Paul was. Come on lads lighten up Martin
  5. Awol went west and first drop I was into a fish which turned out to be a Corkwing wrasse, second drop another Corkwing then a long wait Dean landed 2 Pollock to 2.5lb and a bream around 1.5lb then nothing. It got decidedly lumpy so back round to Swanage bay where it was much more comfortable where I managed to land a Spotted ray. Gave the swash a go on the way in but nothing showing. Also had a Garfish follow my squid bait right up to the boat but it wouldn
  6. Tim You must be really pleased with the results. I am looking forward to seeing you and "Wots the Point" back afloat, I'll make sure I have my shades on Martin
  7. Nice one dan good to see you out and amongst the fish Martin
  8. Craig I would suggest for a 21' boat you would be better with a 7.5kg bruce look alike with at least a boat length of chain. Once shown the alderney ring method of retrieval is easy and a must if you are going to fish in deeper waters. If you like I would show you either on yours or mine Have a look at anka yanka for more information on the alderney method Martin
  9. Well done lads thats really good news. Hopefully we are in for a good season Martin
  10. Hoping to be out on "Awol" with Dean and Bob as crew Martin
  11. Charlie I had an optimax for 7 years. The only money I spent on it was for an annual service. Only ever had one problem being a faulty sensor sorted our under warranty by Tony @ select marine. I understand that etecs are claimed to have a 3year/300 hour service period but if I owned one there is no way I would leave a service for that long. The last place you need problems is out on the briny. Noise and fuel consumption will be similar so at the end of the day I think there will be very little in it. Why not get a quote for supply from a local company you might be pleasantly surprised and will probably get a good deal on fitting also. If needs be use your existing quote as a bargaining tool. Whatever you decide to go with have fun and enjoy your purchase. Martin BTW imo a perfect size engine for your boat
  12. When you find the picture you want open it then right click, take the url and insert it with the image button if that makes sense you will get a larger picture. Do not open the phot right up or you will upset the page and people will have to scroll across the page to view Martin

  15. I gree with mike tohatsu seem to be very good engines at a very keen price. Maybe the way forward assuming there is a local dealer, not nec for purchase but for servicing and maintenance Martin
  16. I think you will find that direct injection 2 strokes will still be imported as they meet the emmisions test carbed 2st's may not be imported. Martin
  17. Hi Rich Welcome to the forum join in we are a freindly lot. My guess re the boats of alumchine is they are trying for bream Martin
  18. Charlie Mercury or mariner are one of the same and are classed as the fords of the outboard world. I would suggest that a fifty hp on a family four is the bottom of the hp required for this relatively heavy boat. If you intend keeping the boat for any length of time then consider a more powerfull engine. On the owners website it states that 90hp as being the maximum. If I were you I would be looking to get as near to that as I could afford. I would suggest a 70 would the minimum to give reasonable performance on the boat when loaded Martin
