  3. Well the Weymouth meet is this coming weekend Dean and I will be leaving Poole around 7:30amish on Saturday and steaming up to Weymouth, stoping off en-route at either kimmeridge or maybe the shambles. Planning to get into Weymouth harbour for around 5pm for a wash and brush up prior to hitting the town well The Sailors pub at least yep I am a light weight on that front The rest of our long weekend we will take as it comes, no set time table other than we will return to Poole on tuesday evening. Weather permitting we shall then proceed over to Alderney on Friday OMG just realsied thats friday the 13th for the 48 hour comp Martin
  4. I use the same knot as Tom but loop the braid as well as the leader. I take the braid 9 turns up the mono the get hold of the top of the braid then take a further 6 or 8 turns down over the braid, wet with spit and pull tight. As Tom says it is most important the braid goes through the loop the same way it came in or it will slip. Martin
  5. Well done Stuart now your off the starting blocks there will be no holding you back Martin

Jim It must be your screen settings. You can change these by going into display settings which you will find in the control panel. Reset your screen resolution to 1280 by 768 or whatever it takes to get everything on screen Martin

When posters upload large photos it can upset the front page or indeed any page that the photo is on. On this occasion it was a lovely pic of a Bream that did it. I have reduced the size of the pic so all is returned to normality....ish Martin
  10. An old photo but I can't resist it Martin
  11. Dave good to hear you and Dean are going to take part in your first club comp You will find further details in our 2008 competition sheets Any other questions just ask Good luck Martin BTW I think you will find there is an error on the above link as I think we voted to allow 3 hooks to be fished not 2? could a committee member please confirm Ta!
  12. The Tope found this fishing lark really exhilerating and got really exceited about seeing water again, unlike Charlie who took up the typical old fella pose Or The tope says "come on Adam I have already woken Charlie twice whilst you ponce about with that flash cameras settings, hurry up and take the pic will yah!"

    cool boxes

Used my Icey Tek cube on our recent Alderney trip. Filled it with crushed ice from Greenslades Friday PM also put 4 iced bottles in saturday am. When we returned Monday PM bottles still solid with ice starting to go a little slushy. Fish were perfect. Well impressed Martin
  16. All the above advice is good but probably the best thing you could do to improve everything boaty and fishy is join PBSBAC proper Tight Lines Martin
  17. Nothing at all wrong with autopilots on power craft although there maybe something wrong with some of the helmsmen using them The old adage a poor workman and his tools springs to mind. I used one over our Alderney week-end and found it to be a boon. Using it made helming the boat less stressfull, tiring and intense but also allowed for the helmsman (me)to take more notice of his surroundings instead of constantly looking at the compass and XTE on the plotter. For these reasons I feel autopilots should at least in theory make travelling in a fast boat safer Martin
  18. Just a few more weeks untill this trip is everyone who stated an interest still interested? Dean and I will be there probably for the full duration. After the Weymouth meet we may well cross the channel and visit Guernsey/Alderney. We will decide this nearer the time with the decision being gauged on how the FPO is performing and also how I feel after 5 days solid fishing at Weymouth After our last Alderney trip I know how knackering this can be Martin
  19. I think you will find that so long as the trip is a private trip ie: not a paid for charter and that the boat is under 35' you should be able to record your fish However I do recall that some rules were changed/amended at the AGM so I would wait to hear from one of the committee to clarify before taking what I write as gospel Martin

  24. I have just phoned the harbour office to see if we could prebook but you can't. The helpfull chap said there will be no problem just pick up a yellow mooring bouy and go to the harbour office to pay your dues or if we are late in book in next day. Speed limit in the harbour is 4 knots Water taxi maybe a problem as it states on the website it runs untill 1800hrs. Is anyone able to take a dingy? Martin
  25. oooOOOhhhh nasty But don't think that will get you out of chores on "AWOL" You will still have to tend to ropes, anchor, fenders duty, scrubbing decks, and of course baiting up for the skipper Oh almost forgot full monty breakies and loads of tea Speedy recovery matey Martin
