  8. Well done Dave Dean and I were planning to fish Tims flounder comp but the gods said otherwise. On Saturday we had paid to enter the comp in advance as required , worms ordered and the boatyard phoned to arrange a launch so we were ready for an early start Sunday or so we thought. An hour later and a phone call from the yard saying they had launched the boat but the legg was making a grinding noise in nuetral so out came the boat. The sad thing is it had only been serviced earlier this week Hopefully its only something simple like the gear change cable adjustment. Anyhow the engineer is coming down on Monday to sort it out. Better luck for us next time Couldnt stay at home though so Dean and I went down to the boat and did a couple of jobs on her. Martin

  15. If the Excell boatshow is the same as in previous years and from what i have heard this year there won't be much in the way of small boats at the show for us fisher types to look at Martin BTW Southampton is by far the best show for smaller fishing type craft
  16. Hi Martin With great reluctance I have decided to sell my Beneteau Ombrine 550 Sport/Fisher Walk Around and I am wondering if you know any Club member who might be interested in buying her. I can say with my hand on my heart that for her size she is as good and as seaworthy a Sport/ Fisher as one can find !! There are very few around. She has a two berth cuddy, is unsinkable and the cockpit is self-draining. She has flat sections aft and thus very stable; she has plenty of freeboard. The boat was built in 2000 and is in good condition. Power is a Mariner 75 Four Stroke. The boat is sold with an RM Four Wheeled Braked Road Trailer with a launching trolley. The Inventory is good, including a moving chart plotter of Poole Harbour and adjoining coastal area and a Garmin fish finder. I have printed details of the boat which I can send to anyone who is interested in the boat My asking price is
  17. Well done to all you bravehearts Dean and i have noticed this year that more flounder have come to ledgered baits over float. Other years float has outfished ledger by a mile. Just goes to show you must keep your options open Martin

  23. Andrew I would scale down the braid to 20lb on the lighter outfits and maximum 30lb on the heavier outfits. Heaviest braid I have loaded on my reels is 25lb which I cant break with a rod. Don't forget to use a rubbing leader of mono to reduce breakage through abasion, a couple of rod lengths would do fine. 7500's will be fine for downtiding, uptiding or wrecking but if bream fishing or floatfishing for bass 6000 size reels will be more comfortable. TLD's are brilliant reels and will suit 20lb+ class rods perfectly Martin
