  8. Hi Overrun Welcome to the best small boat club forum on the net. Use it as much as you like you'll be more than welcome Martin
  9. I have a Raymarine A65 and cant fault it apart from it cutting out once, this was due to a power surge when starting the engine. I always make sure the plotter is switched of now when starting the engine. The plotter part is very clear with a good picture quality. I only have the plotter not the sounder part as I have the Raymarine DS600 sounder. This has a through the hull transducer and works a treat Have you inherited one with your new boat purchase or are you considering buying one? Martin
  10. Just for the record club specimen comps do not have the 50% rule. As there is no weigh in there would be no benefit for the fish so members can record any size fish they catch. The 50% rule its only for our open comp to reduce the amount of small fish brought to the scales Martin
  11. The pc brigade really pee me off with their off the wall prejudices. The quote below is an extract from an email I received Red Arrows Petition If it does for you what it does for me sign the petition Martin Proud to be British - English & a PBSBAC member
  12. Alun Your crew so long as you promise to let me catch some fish I will be in touch towards the end of the week to firm up arrangements Martin
  13. Due to Dean going to Thruxton on the weekend of the 14th Oct "Awol" will need crew to fish our flatfish/Ray comp Post here if interested Martin

  15. Excellent news that she sold nice and quickly. So what type of boats are you looking at? Martin
  16. Rob Sam has a brother that used to work for Mermaid marine on diesel inboards. so I would guess if Sam can't Ben could. Ben does the maintenance on Awol and can thoroughly reccomend him. Martin

  18. Didn't realise you were that old PJ Hopefully Martin
  19. Sneaky eh
  20. Paul Good to see you and Alan out playing today. We managed to collect Frank and tow him into quieter waters so he could get onto his bathing platform and cut away the offending rope. No damage done and he was able to carry on with his testing of new props. We went and played in the harbour with just a half a dozen or so chequers and one lone miniscule flounder, we did have a very nice fry up though Then went around to Pottery pier and rafted up with Tony Deavin who was out on his new Jenny Merry Fisher 695 with wifee and friends, nice boat Tony Martin
  21. Happy bithday Paul and all the best to you and yours on you anniversary BTW did you get Helen a fishing set up for the anniversary or were you not that brave lol Martin
  22. Dan The reason is that braid is so expensive that if you filled your spool soley with braid it would cost a fortune. Also as you say protects your spool from imploding What you have done should work ok Martin
  23. Well done PJ sounds like excellent fun apart from the getting up early bit Martin
  24. Simple answer is no need for a gaff get a large net, congers, rays, tope and all fish we are likely to encounter can be accomodated in a net Martin
