  4. There is nowhere in Poole where boats can be launched at reasonable cost. Baiter is the only half decent public slipway. We could of course use Cobbs but who wants to pay
  5. This bylaw has been around for years but not fully enforced so why now? Well look at what sea anglers have been trying to achieve against the wishes of commercial fishermen, we were unsuccessful. In return I think commercials have had words in ears, in turn those ears have had words with ssfc who can do nothing other than enforce the bylaw they introduced even though it was ill thought out. Who's winning now! In the end no one will win as money talks and when all the fish are caught and theres nomore money to be earned by commercials or those that supply RSA's no one will care pessimistic view? nope - realist? maybe Has anybody had a proper answer as to why angling craft over 12 metres with a licence for 12 anglers were originally included in that bylaw? or indeed why a private craft over 12 metres with 2 or 3 anglers aboard is included? Certainly takes some working out and what makes my blood boil even more is its' another blatant waste of my hard earned taxes Martin
  6. Duncan if thats the case they must like looking stupid in front of joe public At this rate they may need more staff just to read the emails Martin

  14. Andy What a cracking day, very well done. Bit of a cheek though letting the rest of us work whilst you skive off and scoup up the fishies Martin
  15. Quotas are not the best way to manage fish we all know that but at the moment its all there is. Back a system of quotas with penalties for discards, limit days at sea, be more specific on what equipment can be dragged for what species, limit areas allowed to be trawled, police any rules vigorously then watch fishermen alter their practices. Whilst we have a lets be nice to commercial fishermen policy rather than lets preserve fish stock policy we are stuck with what there is. Personally with mindsets as they are I cannot see things altering until its to late
  16. I heard an interview on radio 4 this morning where John Humphries ripped into fisheries minister Mr Shaw about the state of fish stocks and his plans to combat discards. John showed a good understanding of fisheries and made Mr Shaw look rather silly to say the least. All Mr Shaw could come up with was allow fishermen to take more fish (cod). This he says would alleviate the bye catches/discard problem and preserve stocks? Who the hell has brain washed him, since when can you keep more fish and preserve stocks at the same time.....muppet. I have a better solution Mr Shaw, let commercial fishermen take all the cod then we wont have to worry about discards ever again...sorted oh and bye the bye you would be out of a job because there wont be anything left to manage That seems to be the mentality we are up against. Ministers ignore scientists, anglers, greenpeace and even other government and EU departments and side with fishermen...WHY!....probably because we are to placid and commercials are vocal and well organised, this needs to change. Vote with your feet boys its all they understand Martin

  22. My raymarine DS600 is fitted in the proper tube with cooking oil and it works a treat through all speed ranges up to 30 knots. It does ocasionally go silly at slower speeds which is just when you realy need it Not sure what causes it but I guess turbulence from underwater structures? Martin
