  3. Its 14 miles to the needles so that makes him doing 60mph wow
  4. Well done Allan. Nothing is more important than life and it seems by your actions you may well have saved a few. As for the other boaters that passed blissfully bye what can you say, they are either oblivious of their surroundings or totally ignorant with their noses stuck right up........ hu hum I'll let you guess what I was going to put next. Well done again and glad you also went on to catch some fish. Martin
  5. Terry Pure fishing are the importers of ABU gear so follow the link above Martin

  7. Hi Terry Try looking on this site Click on service tab Abu is listed there, I have used them and a very good service to Martin
  8. The engines look to be Mercury Verados. I have priced up a 150 verado and this came out at about 12k so a 275hp must be nearer 15k each so around about 45k of engines on the back of it. Fuel would be frightening for us ordinary mortals but just small change if you can afford that kind of purchase price Martin
  9. Good to meet you at the meeting Thursday, hope you enjoy the club and this forum Martin
  10. Terry Your more than welcome to come out again only next time I'll invite a paramedic to come with us Shame the fish didn't come out to play probably because of the small tides or perhaps were just c**p anglers Martin

  12. Seems like we have 2 boats going (Mav + BW) with only one crew member. Anyone else up for a day out? Failing any takers Adam and Terry you are more than welcome to come out on Maverick, just about enough room for 3 on the drift but obviously more comfortable with just 2 Martin
  13. I am also thinking of going out Thursday but will need crew... No fixed plan but probably buddy Adam to fish iow grounds, early start earlyish finish any takers? Martin
  14. Dean and I were up nice and earlyish for a launch at Cobbs Quay. A slow trek through the harbour then off to somewhere mid channel. With the sea almost flat calm our run out took a little over 2 hours (including the harbour trek ) . We arrived keen but not fresh after both having late nights anyways first drift and Deans into a cod with me taking a small Pollack. Second drift double hook up of Cod third drift and I

  22. Kam you could always stir fry it
  23. There will obviously be several opinions on what we should or shouldn't have in the way of comps. For me the main thing in favour of species hunts is that it levels the playing field. By this I mean that the smaller boats which may only be able to travel a mile or two offshore stand as much chance (if not more) of accumulating a winning score as those that go miles out to sea. This I know is not fully understood by some newer members. Had a chat with one such member on Saturday and when the rules were explained to him properly his comment was I could do that. It will obviously be impossible to please all the people all of the time but we can try. We do have a varied diary of events that can be tweaked if necessary. I do though feel it would be a shame to move away from species hunts completely. Please keep your thoughts coming forward so we can find a consensus to what if anything needs to change, . Do remember the club is not just about comps. In fact comps are just an aside that should add a bit of light relief to your fishing. The club is different things to different people so make the most of whatever the club means to you. Martin
  24. Sam Read the article, they don't propose to extract from the fish but produce in a lab Charlie That's a little greedy have your desert with your main course Martin
  25. The BFM comp is run how we want it to run ie any club comp is ok. The only thing that matters is the results ie 1st 2nd 3rd etc. BFM then award points for each clubs winners and runners up with scores being cumulative through the comp
