  8. The Shetland family four weighs 700 kilos without engine fuel batteries etc so the final all up weight of the boat will be in the region of 1000 kilos making brakes a legal requirement From the shetland website Shetland Family Four Martin
  9. With respect Kam to just run it down the road to launch at Poole it does not NEED a braked trailer. It might be nice to have it braked but definitely need? No Sir. Mad Mike Mike You are incorect with your assumption. Legally if your rig weighs more that 750kg it HAS to be braked that is the law. Also although your trailer doesnt need an mot it must be in a roadworthy condition ie:if brakes fitted they must work correctly and the trailer must not be falling apart Martin
  10. and with those words of wisdom I will close this thread Martin
  11. Hi Steve Firstly welcome to our clubs forum. You are more than welcome to visit us and take part in discussions/threads whenever you like. Secondly thanks for taking the time to put the full story to us. It's good to get it straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Your account of what happened just goes to show how circumstances can take over a situation, one that any of us could have found ourselves in. It appears that the only thing that was done wrong was for the anglers trying to gain fame through press coverage, which they certainly succeeded in getting albeit bad from an angling point of view For those with fat thumbs go directly to Steves report by following this link Steves report Take care Steve and thanks again Martin
  12. Thats fair enough for me. I think the issue (if there is one) is with the uneducated anglers. If you read this Steve you would be more than welcome to contribute on our forum Martin

    Help

As Mad Mike has posted your mounting is almost certainly like one of those in the piccy. You will have to cut off the plug to change the mount. Stailess steel mounts are exactly the same to look at as the plastic one except they shine a little so easy to fit. When you have changed over the mounts you will have to either fit you old plug or a new one. Don't forget to solder the inner core to the plug and make sure the outer co ax doesn't touch the inner Martin
  19. I beleive the Longliner has a design speed of 7 knots. I would agree with a maximum speed in the region of 7 knots as being about right. Allan your 15hp engine will achieve the boats max speed with ease. Be aware of your engine noise and the attitude of the boat. As soon as you feel the boats rear dig in then back off the throttle a little, this will be your optimum cruising speed and as Mike has stated will be around 5/6 knots Martin
  20. Hi Speciman Glad to hear you and your mate are zipping around nice report to, well done Martin
  21. Allan If your boat has a design speed on 18kph it isn't a displacement hull. Which make and model of boat do you have? Most outboard motors will have an optimum rev range which is usually somewhere between 5000 and 6000 rpm any Yamaha marine engineer will be able to give you the rev range for the specified model. Alluminium props can be tweaked by quiet a lot and as a guide eack deg of pitch equals around 200 rpm. Stainless steel props can only be tweaked a small amount Would agree with Mike that you shouldnt need to go to the extreme of having rev counters cause if it sounds right it probably is. Martin
  22. Hi Frank and welcome to your clubs home on the net You finally mastered the intricacies of the internet then or is it Sheila pushing the buttons See you soon Martin
  23. Reg The body of your engine will be ally and can be welded. Just find a friendly engineering shop or proppeller repair shop and they should be able to do it for not to much money. All you will then have to do is paint the affected area with cellulose paint Martin
