I was anchored one evening out of Poole quiet happily fishing away then in the distance Barfluer appeared on a heading directly towards Maverick When he was about 2/3 miles away I called him up on the vhf and explained we were anchored in his path, the french guy came back and acknowleged he had seen us and that he would alter course which he did. I was a little worried about contacting him and did think about slipping anchor but the captain was very cordial. A bit long winded but the answer to your question is yes call them up but do also have a back up plan ready, just in case! Martin

No you can't Either of the two spots you suggest should be good. Southbourne will have less tide so may be more comfortable fishing (lighter) but whitehouse grounds does offer a large variety of species and options The choice is yours Martin

The reason specime weights changed was that the NFSA updated there list and as we use their specimen sizes we updated ours (I think ) Martin

Hi Andy Glad you enjoyed your first adventure out in the boat and good to meet your good lady. BTW FPO stands for "fishing permission officer" We launched at about 11am from Cobbs with no mishaps and the only annoyance being some flash family with their new Range Rover, shiney boat and huge new Honda blocking the slip. They couldn't get the ob to start and decided to move the car adjacent the boat on the slip then connect up jump leads etc etc, why the guy couldn't haul his boat off the slip and allow others users full use is beyond me. Anyway other than the fact that we had to launch on the awkward side of the slip all went smoothly, even ere indoors handled the ropes impeccably, she

Well predicted winds for sunday are westerly around 14/15 mph So it looks like the best places to shelter from the winds would be either South Deep (western side of Green Island) or maybe Studland bay which (good for ice creams and swimming ), as its a bank holiday weekend would probably be very busy. Any other ideas? Martin
