  1. They could have Charlie but he kept muttering about how expensive it would be and that it would cost lots and they were busy and and, so I got the impression he wasn't interested. I'm guessing he saw I had work clothes on and judged I couldn't afford his services, his loss someone else's gain
  2. Just a thought, we have all been going down the cable theory route but do you think chain might work instead of wire? After all we are only trying to get a swivel to turn the anchor the right way BTW Charlie called in to see XP rigging and they were not interested although he did point me elsewhere
  3. Allan thanks for the kind offer but apart from Madness being out of action I had already made evening arrangements for sat. Would love to some other time
  4. Hum this is something I have been wanting to try but never got around to and now Madness is broke. She has no juice and am awaiting the return of my alternator which is being rewound
  5. Hi Adam I am very interested in making a trip up to Portland this year however I can't do next weekend but going forward would be interested in going there either on our own or with others. Also there is a proposed WSF meet at Portland starting the weekend of the 29th August. I have been watching this evolve but as yet not put my name down for it but weather permitting would do that WSF meet

  14. Adam just looking at your recalling the history part of the club and for those that are interested would like to update with this. Our first club online presence was indeed on Phantom Fisher. I negotiated with the owner to have our own page on his site. Unfortunately this only lasted a few months before due to personal circumstances he pulled the plug and closed the site. Our experience with this site however planted the seed that we needed our own online presence. Another website based in the solent/isle of wight area (Solent Angler?) was at that time the largest fishing site in our area. I contacted Chris the then owner and agreed with him that we could temporarily have our own page/section on his site whilst we sorted our own. Chris welcomed us with open arms. Our part of this website soon became the dominant section of Chris's site. He was infectiously enthusiastic on building his site and sea angling in general. This page really took off and gave the club such a boost in interest/membership. After an appeal I had contact with a former member of the solent fishing site who agreed to build a site for us but this turned out to be a walk up a garden path and a total waste of time except for my meeting Paul Dore. Paul admitted he had not had much (or was it any) experience of building websites but he could write code so would give it a go. Paul built our original website and forum for no cost followed by subsequent updates and at least one rebuild. A lot of work was put into building both the club and the website in the early years. I am sure we would not have gotten as far as we have had it not been for Paul and I for one will be eternally grateful for his help laying the foundations of the club we have today. Oli is our current webby and has done a great job on our latest rebuild and maintaining what we have now. To all those reading we are interested in your story. How did you become a sea angler, from a young age, old age or just happened on? tell us the ins and outs I will try to recall my angling history from when I was a young lad until the present day and post in the next few days.
  15. Excellent, really looking forward to the next chapter Adam
  16. Happy birthday Dave, trust you had a great day (fishing maybe?)
  17. Well done Jim on getting out, shame about the fish but as they say "a bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office" whatever that is lol

  25. Ben get hydraulic trim tabs or electrically operated blades both are adjustable to the conditions and won't catch you out in a following sea (if you remember to retract) Get a set that automatically retract when you turn off the ignition, they may all do that now but never used to which led to damage on Awol when she was retrieved on drystack. The fixed type of trim tabs are not adjustable during a day out and awkward to retract in a larger boat. If your prop needs repitching I believe Darglow engineering at Holton Heath can do this. 1" of pitch equates to roughly 200rpm failing them send it to Clements Marine
