Twas a good turnout and an enjoyable day. Best bit was the pint afterwards!!! Well done to the Little Gurnard, the smake beater - bit of a David and Goliath going on!! Rob
  2. With 200 copies of the list printed without Corkwing or Cuckoo and some already handed out, I dont think they should be entered now. There would be a riot if a fish not on some people's official species list won any kind of prize!! And I wouldn't want to be the Fish Recorder \ Official who would need to deal with that + it could well harm the reputation of this comp\club for future years. Rob
  3. I am guessing that it hasn't changed, but in fact the previoulsy posted list was not the official one.

    Lyme Regis

There are plenty of fossils in the grey \ blackish rock about 1/2 mile East of the Cobb\Harbour. Though this is a little soft and not sure how durable - but easy to break and extract the fossils. Rob

Looks like a Small Eye to me! "What about the crab I caught at the family day ?" The less said about that the better - after all it was a family day and children were present!!
  11. I assume you have put it on boats and outboards? If not then it will sell their at the right price. If you have and it is not sold then you will have to adjust price accordingly. I coul have sold my dory 4 times at least on Boats and Outboards and I got my asking price! R

    GPS

Man you are having bad luck! First the boat packs up then the GPS! There was a thread last month re. repairs by some company in Wareham - Here: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=8994 R
  13. Might be worth a shot of compressed air in to the carbs to clear the jets (just worked a treat on a friends Mercury 2stroke 115) - or take them off and soak them in carb cleaner to remove the gunk. Rob

    VHF Radios

Get an Icom - I have a fixed one and Handheld (for 5 \ 6 years and still battery is great). I can't comment on Navman but have no complaints re. Icom. BTW there are 2 types when talking GPS compatiable. There are DSC only ones that have GPS data input and then the second type have input AND output. This is where you can plot your mates MMSI's on you gps and see where they are! (if they authorise it!) - as far as I am aware no one in the club is stuipd enough to do this yet!!! HTH Rob
  15. Is anyone going out later? I see the sea state is predicted to be Smooth to slight - small tides and all. Rob

    camera

Some guys have these Olympus waterproof cameras - they are good cameras anyway and being tough and waterproof in a bonus - + they are suprisingly small. Alun J has one - he could advise. Maybe this: http://www.parkcameras.com/Search/waterpro...igital+Cameras/ Or Pentax: http://www.parkcameras.com/Search/waterpro...igital+Cameras/ Panasonic, canon and Fuji also do versions. I have a sony normal digital compact camera and have a waterproof case for it (3m\10ft). This is because at the time the tough cameras did not have an AF assist light, but the case was expensive but I got it in Canada which was much better for the wallet! I find this site a good place to start for reviews: http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/ HTH Rob
  17. Nice to put a name to a face. Let us know when you are all bakc home (if not already). Cheers Rob, Jo and Olivia
  18. In your Avatar you show the boat on a trailer - can you not pull her out at Baiter and fix in the car park?
  19. Good film and interesting to learn a few things. Some people got more excited than others:

Well done Frisky and her crew. Once again doing well. For new members who may not know - Frisky Fox is a yacht. (don't worry if they do too well in the species comp we can amend the boat classificatrion rules at teh next AGM!! ) Rob
  21. Sounds like a bad earth to me. Also, trace all the wires and see where \ bow they connect to the battery - then ensure that the cable size is up to the job. Especially if the cable run is long. Good luck Rob
  22. You guys are really scratching the bottom of the barrel!!
  23. Jim - is Small Fry OK? Looks like you may have buoyancy issues. I would expect her to lean to your side!!!

    Garmin Transducer

I assume that cutting and rejoining the wire has changed the resistance and maybe a new one is in order. Rob
