Don't underestimate the term "drop off" it is worst on the up river side of the slip and we saw someone break their stub axel ( ) a couple of weeks ago. Rob
  2. I'd heard that about you!!! No wonder you have problems getting crew sometimes
  3. Well - all did not go to plan. Unfortunatley the comp with Burnham was called off the night before due to predicted sea conditions So what to do - pack and fueled up wit nowhere to go! With Play Hooky already in Burnham the discussion was frantic and eventually it was agreed that PH would go out of Lymington with AJ as crew - I assume they did. And that Enticer and JoJo would head for Kimmeridge for a mini trailaway. Well we were motoring out of Kimmeridge at 7:30 and heading in search of live bait for later. Once we had a few we headed to St Alban's head - I couldn't help but keep stopping and circling over and abundance of interesting features and chucking down feathers!!! Charlie and I headed to search out a Ray tip from Neal S - not luck so if you could send me the numbers Neal I would be grateful!!!! Enticer headed to a deep hole for rays \ tope. After some mean radio chat from Enticer (the sound of bacon cooking) we headed to a bank for Rays. We gave it a shot but the tide built too much, so JoJo headed in to look for some bass after some direction from Enticer (Gordon) who were heading for a wreck. JoJo handled the sea past St Albans with a strong tide and wind against it was a little hairy, with overfalls and breaking waves. However JoJo perfprmed brilliantly and only Charlie got a soaking!! Anyhow, long story short, JoJo return the Bacon radio call with one annoucing that the crew were having bass for dinner!!!! We met up with Enticer for the return to the Slip. Gordon, I really appreciated the help and guidance and enjoyed being your buddy boat for the day - was good to know there was someone there close by. Even though it wasn't the great adventure to Burnham, it was a nice change from the usual sites and could have been anywhere in that weather. I even got a text from a French mobile provider advising me how to access my voicemail!!!! Cheers Rob
  4. Unlucky Dave - glad your VHF was working!!!

    What Battery?

Depends if he wants it to start the engine or run electronics. You shouldn't start an engine off a leisure battery.
  6. Another Berk in a Merc!!!!!

  10. Right - so 31st it is - can we have some info on baits, tactics and anything else we need? So we can prepare in the coming week. Also, can they provide us with marks for fishing and marks to avoid so I can plot them in before we go? Anyone else up for it????? I like the sound of thornbacks and smoothies - oh and a Bass \ Cod combo sounds good!!!! Cheers Rob
  11. Hello fellow members. A friend of mine (this sounds like the start of an embarassing story!!) anyway.........this friend is organishing a Stag-Do to Exeter and is thinking of organising a charter out of Exmouth in September. Can anyone advise \ recommend a boat that they have fished on \ has a good name? There will be 10-12 fishing and will mostly need gear to hire \ rent. From any info gained from this, no doubt to be, wise thread, I will inform my friend and he can call and chat to the relevant skippers. Thanks in advanced. Rob
  12. Good to see you are about Rich - hope to catch up soon at a meeting or on the water. Rob

  18. Guys, I am off to Dartmouth for a weeks holiday in June. I am also allowed to take the boat!!!! So, i am looking for some advice on marks, techniques and any other useful tips. I have been before a few years ago and managed mackerel and small pollock or was that pollack? I was thinking about catching launce and livebating for something bigger but have never fished for launce so any info would be great. I believe the Plaice may well be on teh shambles still so may look them up too. I will be at the meeting Thursday (hold the groans please!!), so if anyone has experience of fishing this area \ a similar rugged coast line I would be all ears!! Thanks in advanced. Rob
  19. Male bream have a blueish area on top of the head \ across the shoulders. If it ain't blue put it back!!! As Alun J said to me "If you are having trouble identifying it, then it is a female". From Mudeford, Christchurch head along the Ledge and a couple of miles out you will see a group of boats - they will be Breaming. Have a look at the forum called Fishing Marks and Club Members Chit Chat there is a sticky post called "New Member Club Marks, To help you get started". Rob
  20. Nice read, thanks. It was a bit like that on JoJo last Friday, we could have doen with dry suits! R

    Friday 1st....

Ahhhhhh - so maybe my waders don't have a leak, that's good news!!!
  22. Charlie A and I took the afternoon off work to go get some bream! Well, once we got to Mudeford and saw \ flet the breeze F4+ we thought that anchoring would be a no no. So we headed out to get some maccy for teh BBQ, caught up with Les on Manatee and found a few fish. The wind was so strong that every wave we hit seemed to come in the boat - we were soaked within minutes of getting out and twice the bow had a wave come over it and we were swimming on deck, the joys of and open boat!!! Nevermind, we got out, caught some fish, had some sun and a large dose of fresh air. Rob
