Charlie A and I got to Mudeford at 9:20 ish after a lazy breakfast of Bacon and Egg sarnies! The slip way was totally iced up, as if someone had launched and left water to freeze all over it (The Gordon's I believe!!!) - anyhow we had to hand launch JoJo, though it was more like we were being towed down the ice runway with the trailer taking the lead!!!!
We left the run to find a flat calm and welcoming sea.
Charlie and I sneaked out of my agreed range to join everyone else near the Needles (a travel speed of up to 26knts made it less than 20 mins from Mudeford!!). We spotted Alfresco straight away and had a quick chat - Neil mentioned our late arrival, but as we only missed dogs and pout we didn't mind!!
We got in to a few dogs on the slack then I picked up my first EVER winter cod of 9lb3oz on a single squid bait, action with Whiting (a few plate sized ones) and Pout picked up as the flood built. I picked up a codling of 3lb 9oz on a tiny sliver of squid on a size 1 hook whilst trying to catch whiting!!!!
Charlie managed a nice plump Whiting of 2lb + to give a nice selection in our coolbox.
Quick blast home against a great sunset, where we met Enticer on the Slipway.
A great day out on the water.
